Post Title: So which model and year M do you have?
Posted by: szhosain at 10:27 AM 11/18/2005

I think it would be cool to see how the breakdown and model year of M35 and M45 models that NICO people have here. This poll is for the basic car - not the specific options available in any given year!

This thread should also be used to post pictures of your Infiniti M. (I don't want to restrict pictures in other threads, just ask that you all put at least one picture in here too) !

Wow! lots of AWD versions ... must be a popular car in Canada and the snow-belt US states.

Thanks for posting, folks! Let's keep this going ...

Haha that thing only let me vote once. I'm on my second M35 sport since May. I should be able to vote twice!!! Just making trouble... lol!!!

Unfortunately, the poll software only allows one vote! For obvious reasons - no ballot box stuffing allowed!

I would have purchased the M45 if they had AWD in it, that would have been ideal; or even better AWD with the sport streering, suspension and the 8 pistons!

Now that would have been a great little machine!

I'd like to look at Turbo's and chip mod's later - but the dealer has warmed this will void my warranty...

2006 M35x Black Obsidian/Bourbon and premium pkg, light tint.

I am leasing, but will get a rear spoiler and mudflaps and possibly the piano kit and/or carbon fiber door pillars.

This is the first time I am leasing a car. Does anyone know if they will penalize me if I install any of the above parts when I return the M?

Hi,

for people living in NY and the northeast, I can't see anybody buying a Non-AWD. This is why I chose the M35x AWD. If and when the M45 goes to a M45x, (fingers crossed) I'd purchase the vehicle next.

2003 Model year.... I didn't see it listed as a part of the survey, I feel jilted, will have to posy as a 2004 I guess.

As far as what we'd like to see from Nico... how about a registry. At least for me with a 1st Generation, it would be interesting to see the break-down (by model year, color, etc) of M45's (M35's) out there. Based on what I have found there are fewer than 6000 first Generations out there, with about 3500 for 2003 and somewhere near 1700 for 2004.

It is there! As the creator of that poll, and an owner of a 2003 M45, I would not leave it out!

The order of the entries in a poll thread changes with the number of votes - the forum software does this outside of our control!

A good idea. I did not know if the forum software supported this, which is why I started this poll (for the same reason as you mentioned). I also intend to do the same for the colors, etc. and will follow up on this sometime! Thanks!

Posted by: bamaSAAB at 9:14 PM 6/4/2006

still miss the punch of my old 9000 turbo, but the memory is dimming. It's hard to fault this car after 4 months and 9500 miles. Its way better than I expected.
best tricks:
keyless
voice
nav
blue tooth
best features:
tall seating ( above floor)
interior space..Saab's were once designed inside out..like this car
tranny..smooth
handling...still not used to RWD though
needs improvement:
blue tooth
fuel efficiency

incredible car...especially as a first year! I swithed to Mobil 1 the last change...I may not give this one up in 32 months!!!

Unfortunately, there is just not enough of these 2003 and 2004 M45's to justify many after-market folks to invest in products for them. Sad!

About the only thing that I thought was very interesting was the turbo-charger that was available (for a short duration) for the same engine in a Q45 - the name was Keuylian Motors. I went looking when I got my 2003 M45, but they had gone out of business ... oh, well.

G and the Q of the same model year, and the M was for me. The performance is great and you do not see many out there. People notice and they tend to like what they see. Mine is Black/Black with chrome wheels.

2006 M45 Fully loaded all the options and love it.

I am doing some aftermarket things to it as well, and no it does not void the warranty. There are several laws to protect us as well. I am going to get the correct information and post it as I can get my hands on it.

I am installing a Weapon R cold air intake on it as well. Also the new magna flow and going to make it a true dual exhaust. Right now it is two into one back into two for the exhaust. They are going to cut and adjust the sensors for performance. Not sure about turbo yet, but the chips are available. I will post some pics as soon as I get them up. Also going with a new subwoofer, (still keeping everyhting stock) enclosure (fiberglass) in the forward half of the trunk with 2 "10 and a fairly large amp, all remoted to the front for bass depending on how much I want.

I am also looking for anybody who has other custom Ideas for this car. I am going to start doing a lot of work to it and my chopper.

2003 M45
Garnet Fire, Wheat? interior, Maple trim,
cooled seats, voice control, sun roof
(no navigation, satellite radio, laser cruise, spoiler, or chrome on the 18's)

Completely original, 38,XXX miles - still under Factory Warranty

I love it! I've been watching the prices for a while, and hoped I could STEAL one by now, and I did.

I may consider adding spoiler and Satellite radio, (factory style).

I am experiencing the Gas gauge issue and the trunk issue. I'll get them fixed very soon. Parts on order for the gauge. I'll wait until warmer weather to get the trunk fixed. It will be a negotiation point for buying the extended Infiniti warranty.

This sounds like a classified ad, but I bought it to keep it! I'll attach photos soon.

I have trouble with the gas guage and already replaced sending unit. Failed again, now they are replacing cluster in the dash and I am hoping that fixes it. I also have the trunk problem. I will keep poking around the site looking for the solution.

Anyone who has found some after market exterior styling parts (ground effects, spoiler, etc.) please let me know.

Thanks!

Two solutions:

a. If the car is still under warranty, get Infiniti to replace the struts. Has cured my problem.

b. Check out the auto trunk-opener at Burtman Industries web site: http://www.burtmanindustries.com ... run by Jason Burtman.

Unfortunately, there is not much available here, certainly not at any decent prices, for the 2003/4 models ... not enough demand since the car's sales volume is so low for the US market.

You might look at Jason's website for possibilities. Or, if you find something interesting in Japan, he may be able to get it through his sources.

Enjoy!

Just picked up my 2006 M35 Sport tonight. Actually my salesman was nice enough to deliver it in the midst of this crazy April snow/rain storm. It's black/black with 45k on it. I'm coming out of a 1996 740iL which was just a spectacular car in every way except maintenance/reliability. I didn't want to go down the German road again (no matter how nice a new 5 or 7 drives, it's a service revenue generator first and the ultimate driving machine second), and the American choices were almost nonexistent. The CTS-V was promising (what a BLAST to drive) but GM screwed the pooch by putting run-flats on it (WHY???). Nothing like replacing $400 tires every 10-15k and not being able to pick any other wheels (6-bolt pattern). Idiots...

So, I test drove just about everything I could think of and was about to buy a 2007 G35S when I looked out the window of the dealership and saw this car sitting there. I was pondering G35S vs G35x (love them both for different reasons) and I couldn't help thinking about the black M35 staring at me from the "pre owned" lot. I was all of 10 seconds into the test drive when it hit me - this is THE ONE. Not as narrow and go-karty as the G35, it was exactly what I was looking for.

Can't wait to drive it some and take some pics. Once the rain is gone and I can make it look presentable I'll do that. I've enjoyed reading up on the car here and I wish I had seen a 03-04 M45 from the glowing reviews I've read so far. You guys have a rare and very cool ride.

Has anyone installed the trunk opener advertised on Jason Burtman's site? The quote for parts to replace the autmatic trunk opener alone cost almost $500 and this item which would seemingly solve the problem is only $129.95. Not saying too good to be true.... but would like to know if anyone is using and for how long?

Thanks for the input.

I have been using Burtman's, but only half of it (ie one shock). It opens the trunk about 12" which is perfect for me. I don't want the trunk to open all the way with the heavy Florida rains in summertime.

If you're interested in the other half of the kit, hit me up.

Purchased a 2007 M35 with Journey package ~one month ago from Bob Moore Infinit in Oklahoma City for our new phase in life as empty nesters. Thus far we love the car (we upgraded from a 2001 Toyota Sienna mini-van). Our M35's color is Obsidian Black. Since purchasing the car we have read several concerns about poor gas mileage. During our M's short life we're averaging 22 mpg which includes both highway and city driving. We're using 90 octane premium unleaded gasoline (highest octane available in the Texas Panhandle!). This mileage is similar to what the Sienna achieved so no impact to our wallet other than buying premium unleaded rather than mid-grade gasoline.

I'm a do it yourself routine maintenance (oil & filter changes, air filter changes, etc.) person as I don't trust the quick oil change places and dealers charge too much. Besides I like to crawl under a vehicle to inspect its condition myself. Is do-it-yourself routine maintenance reasonbly easy to do for an M35?

Coincidentally, does anyone know where I can find a guide on compatible aftermarket audio/nav systems for the M35? I've searched...this info doesn't seem to be anywhere. Thanks.

Since I was interested in the more forgiving daily drive of the non-Sport model, I chose to make some changes that reflect the looks of the Sport, but the ride of the standard model. I have added a spoiler, the 19" rims and tinted the windows. I am in the process of installing an Injen Cold Air Kit and considering lowering springs, but am afraid of loosing my more plush ride. The photo is altered to show the look with lowered springs in place.

Nice car ... same color and year, and almost the same mileage as mine. Cool! I don't have the sunroof on my car though - we don't miss it, since we hardly used the one on my previous Q45's.

Personally, I prefer the look of the stock wheels, but this is your choice. I do not know if a 20x9.5 will fit in the front - it would be good for you to get a fitment test done.

Yeah after reading alitte bit in this furom I might go with a 20X8.5 up front and a 20X10.5 in the rear.

If you had to choose would you go with the Black or Silver? I am leaning towards the Silver.

I wanted this car when I saw the Ghost Town commercial in 2003!

Going the VIP route on this car not sure what bodykit I am going to buy yet.

Here are the instructions: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/254009 that will work for you.

FWIW, we have a sister site where you can host pictures (iserve.nicoclub.com) that works very nicely and cleanly with the forum software, but it does have a nominal fee per year for use. So, free sites (like in the link above) are what most people tend to do - a bit more work to link in, but the cost is right.

Nice!

Which one do you have? Or did it change color and wheels when let in out of the snow?

Seriously, those both look very nice indeed. From your e-mail address, I assume you are in Japan and those are either Gloria or Cedric sedans?

Posted by: DrFast1 at 5:00 PM 2/14/2008

Hello,

I have a 2003 M45. Bought it as a old person lease return from West Palm Beach FLorida. Had 33k miles when I bought it for less than $19k.

Have been reading this site for a while. My car is one of those that doesn't like synthetic oil (eats it like candy).

LOVE this car. Good to know there are as many fans of the M45 out there!

Any 2008 M Sport pics??? Why is liquid platinum such a rare color in the 2008's, haven't seen one yet...I just ordered a 2008 M45 Sport in liquid platinum, impossible to find anywhere, but as soon I get it...I'll post some pics. Does anyone know how long it takes after receiving a production number??? Also, does Infiniti have a way of tracking it online???

it took forever but I finally got it detailed yesterday ($$$) but the paint looks brand new, never thought that it would turn out soooo good. The Red 35 is just a temp car, bought it last week to check them out and I don't really like it? Doesn't have the same feel as the older M. So It's being replaced by an STS-V or the Lexus GS?

Nice pictures! And a nice side-by-side comparison!

Though, I am a bit surprised that you don't find the feel of the new M as good as the old one. It should have much better handling (newer suspension design, etc.) and better interior (larger, more modern, etc.).

For me, it is the unique looks of the older one that keeps me in it!

I don't know much about Lexus models ... but ...isn't the IS300 FWD? If this is correct, it would not fit your desire for a rwd platform, right?

Hey guys,

Just bought a 2006 M45 Sport Twighlight Blue with the Tech and Advance Tech packages.

I got it with 27,000 in mint condition.

I traded in my 2004 Toyota 4Runner with 151,000 miles on it. That was my 3rd Toyota. This is my 1st Nissan/Infiniti.

Hope the quality is similar.

Here it is from the dealer...

Here is is after I upgraded the factory 19"s to th echrome 19"s

Here it is today with the aero kit and 10% tints...

I love this car. I didn't think I could ever go down to a car until the M45 came along.

I look forward to contributing to the forum.

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome. So far very pleased with the car. By far the nicest car I have ever driven as a daily driver. I was weaned on a '77 Datsun/Nissan 280Z. Loved that car as well. Drove the heck out of it for 16 years, until it about fell apart (rust mainly). The engine and tranny were bullet proof.

I have a 2006 M35 with Journey and Technology, TwilightBlue/Tan - 41,000 miles now. The only technical issue has been an exhaust rattle/resonance at about 2200-2400 RPMs under medium to heavy load. The dealer replaced my cat converter and that solved the problem. Not sure of there is a TSB out for this issue or now?

I recently rashed my rims pretty bad (which my Wife always takes care of) and am looking for two 2006 rims if anyone is looking to sell.

Thanks, Joe

Whats up everyone. I'm a new member, but familiar with the site. I've been a huge fan of the 03-04 M45 body style for years. Heres my car, picked it up last January. So far added small Rockford Fosgate system and 20x8.5 & 20x10 TSW Thruxtons. This car is currently for sale if anyone is interested LMK.

2006 M35x (AWD) Graphite Gray (Diamond Graphite?) w/ dark gray interior, rosewood, tech & journey packages, 30k miles, have had for 9 days, luvin it! Its our first luxury car. Gets 22-24 mpg if you keep foot off gas - otherwise 18-20 mpg if you drive like a teenager. No pics yet - looks just like stock. Test drove (and considered) Acura RL and Lexus (G300?) - not as nice. Once I drove the M I was hooked. Nicely balance car, pulls tight corner/high g's, haven't been able to make it slide yet - doesn't push the front like the RL did. Drives a lot like a mid-engine. Love the rear-view, prevents squashing the kids. Suggest keeping the lane departure warning on while learning all the gadgets. Adaptive cruise control is too cool, but you can pick up a little more mpg driving yourself or using regular cruise, as usually the idiot ahead of you surges a lot, and the dang car matches every accel/brake motion perfectly...yikes!

New to forum - all the other posts are great, and some of the tips are really useful. Other rigs: Still have a 1999 F350 diesel crew cab dually, but only use 2x per year for towing big stuff. Our 2000 Expedition still runs good, but gets only 13mpg, so will likely use only when DEEP snow (happens occasionally here in Tacoma) or when we need to haul "stuff". Also have 1991 Acura Legend - for the teens to drive - nice car for its day, and still fun to drive (like a hi-powered go-cart).

Hello All,
I've been researching cars for the last 2 months. Looking at Cadillac CTS, Audi A6, but I finally test drove the M35 yesterday. Oh my freakin God this car is awesome. I have finally found what I've been looking for. The only question now is White or Black? I really like both and have some ideas for rims but what do you guys think? I would really like to go with black wheels with Chrome lip, or black wheels with chrome center piece.

Thanks for all who are a part of this forum for all your insight and enthusiasm for this great, well built car.

2006 M45 Sport. It's the wifes car. I surprised her by having the wheels painted. She's not to thrilled with the outcome, I love them.

I agree but sadly the newer Ms have a different trunk and light housing shapes. They look great but won't fit.

Its a pleasure to be a new member at the Nico Forums!

Here are some pics of my M.
It's an 06 M35X with all options (If I'm not mistaken).

Good vehicle so far with 7 year/100K Elite wrap I'm not worried.

Installed Mods;
-Fujita intake w/heat shield
-Megan Racing Exhaust (Wow this is nice, I highly recommend)
-Motordyne TB Bypass and Thermal isolation.
-Full Aero Kit with Roof spoiler and S badge
-TIS badging
-20" Chrome VDC Gangsta Wheels with black inserts. (245/35/20 tires)
-Infiniti Logo floor mats

Mods I have or are pending shipping but not installed;(Yet)
-Plenum Spacer
-Espelir Lowering Springs M35X SPECIFIC (Purchased from Burtman Industries pending delivery in late Sept 09)
-AAC Halo's (Orange)
-Gloss Black billet grill and black Head lights
-Front Bumper Splitter
-INFINITI SPORT DRILLED ALUMINUM PEDAL KIT
-CARBON FIBER ENGINE COVER

Mods Im thinking about;

-Two A-Pillar Gauges
-Slightly Larger Tire at 245/40/20 (set if S drives)
-Wood Trim Steering Wheel
-10" subwoofer with amp.
-Tune
-1000 hp Shot of N02 (just kidding)

I'm working on fabricating something that was help pull cold air from under the car and route it to the short ram intake filter location.

Back when I had a Buick Grand National, TSR Racing made a nice universal ram air kit.

One neat feature about it was it had a scoop (centered) right under the front bumper.
It looked very racer and mean.

FORGIVE MY CRAPPY CAMERA!!!!!

Im trying to go that direction with an "07 45 Sport.

Post Title: Re: Has anyone experienced this ISSUE with their M's Rattling, exhaust noise
Posted by: leejoseph at 9:07 AM 9/25/2009

Jan 08, I purchased a brand new 07 Infiniti (M35x) and for over a year I fought with the Infiniti services team to address a “rattling, pinging, rocks in a can” issue coming from the exhaust system beneath the front of the car. Finally it took the regional manager to come down after filing two complaints with the inter-circle consumer affairs department. From that point; it took both of us to go into the garage and actually have the tech take the "heat Shield" off and to our demise. We found that the small piece of material inside of it was deteriorated. He (Roger Gettler) made them order a new heat shield which corrected the issue. Outside of that; I had additional issues from the “middle headrest latch being broke, the wood molding on the driver side came a loose on the door, the controller in the passenger side mirror went out and the last straw was a rattling in the passenger door they could not fix and needed to replace the whole panel.

Now; the new and current general manger for Charles Barker Infiniti tried to ease my pain recently by working a deal on a 09 (M35 Sport). I have owned this car roughly two weeks and again the rattling issue has returned. I have had an intermitted issue with the passenger mirror when putting the car in reverse and the AC in the seat hardly works in this car.

Upon giving Charles Barker an attempt to resolve the issue on July 8th; I'm not only disappointed, but very dissatisfied because from one perspective I'm being told it's just how the engine sound on the cars and is normal, yet it doesn't happen on every car. From another perspective; it was identified by tech as a rattle or pinging sound, but yet they cannot duplicate it on other models or fix the issue.
Additionally; the rude comments from the technician should not be tolerated by the company. Every time the technician named "Lance" has to ride with a customer to identify an issue. He is very rude and disgruntle toward customers. In fact; when explaining the issue; Lance makes rude comments "that if I want him to tell them that I would like something change out, then that's what he would tell them". He is the technician and though he here's the issue; when speaking with the service manager he then tells a slight different story or regurgitate it differently.

I'm now looking to take legal action against Infiniti because "WE" as customer should NOT have to drive a $60 thousand dollar car with a rattling sound on acceleration. I no longer want the vehicle and looking to return it and/or take whatever measures necessary to square this matter away. This same sound has been experienced by many customers across the US; they either end up going back and forth with the tech teams. Or have had the issue identified and resolved the issue in one of several different ways such as; wedging something between the shield and exhaust pipe. This is supposed to be a top of the line vehicle that should not be experiencing such issue. I'm located in the Virginia Beach Area and dealing with Charles Barker Infiniti

Nope. It's all stock. Maybe the angle of the photo makes it look darker than it is.
