So I'm in search of some OEM fender flares that came on the SE Pathfinders. I have an XE that didn't come with them. Problem is, I can't find a place to buy them at a reasonable price. I would prefer to buy used, this is a 9 year old truck.

So, in review, what I have:

What I want, in terms of the flares:

Also, would the first generation flares fit?

As in the ones on this truck?:

Thanks a lot guys

I don't think the gen 1 flares would fit a gen 2 truck. They are VERY differenttrucks.

Visit the local wreckers. Tell them what you want. Chat them up a little, tell them why you want them. And they may have "want list",get on it, come back again in a couple of weeks. You want them to rememberyou when one comes in the gate. Also, there may be a wrecker that specializes in Nissan, or Japanese trucks, or something.

Also, I THINK that front flares of the equivalent PU will work. Confirm this beforebuying (or "hey I'll take them off, and see if the fit. If they don't I saved thenext guy some work." Bring a couple freezer-grade ziplocks to put the hardware in.

I think my junkyard has a 1996 with flares, I'll have to go take a look.

Any luck with your search?

I'm also in the same boat with you. I bought the 2000 Pathfinder XE brand new. Since then, I have been trying to find a fender flare that will fit my car but with no success. It is very frustrated that the same base edition introduced two years later did come with the flares ...

I've talked to a couple of auto body shops. What I learnt is that unlike the SE or the LE, the XE doesn't come with the pre-drilled holes on the fenders to hold the flares. While it can be done now, but the labour cost involved will be prohibitibly high. The flares are also very expensive. I cannot find any aftermarket products for that. The genuine Nissan flares will cost about C$2,000. And don't forget also the labour cost involved in painting (the flares are not painted yet) and installation! So at last I gave up.

By the way, the flares designed for models prior to 2000 won't fit 2000 or any subsequent years' models. The shapes of their wheel wells are not the same.

I am very interested to know if you've found any other ways to do it.

Thanks.

Theres a guy I know here in Vancouver that has a set of grey painted fender flares off a 2001 pathfinder for sale. they will match any two-tone XE or SE pathfinder since all of the bumpers were already grey (like mine). He is selling them for $200 for all 4, thats a great deal!

check out my previous thread with pictures and prices for everything. If either of you guys want the fender flares or any other parts, let me know and I can help you get them.

here is the parts thread: zerothread?id=428703

Thank you for the tips!

However, my XE has the front and the rear bumpers both in the same silver/grey colour as the body of the vehicle. The SE has both the bumpers and the fender flares in a darker grey colour. So, the colour of this set of flares won't match that of the bumpers of my vehicle.

But I still thank you for your reply, as it opens up a new channel where I may be able to find what I need in the future!

Thanks again!

well, one idea might be to buy the fender flares for $200 and then for probably around $100 you could get them painted at a local body shop to match the color of your bumpers. $300 for a set of 4 flares is still a great deal

Woo! Repainting 4 flares can be done in about $100? That will be great!

In that case, is it possible if your friend also do the painting and the installation for me? (My XE doesn't have the holes on the fender. So, there will be some drilling jobs to do.) As he and I are both in Vancouver, and he is also expertized in Pathfinder, I think it will be great if he can do all these jobs for me for one single quote.

I have put on a stepping rail on my XE (the same one used for 1999 or earlier models), but I don't think it will affect the installation of the flares.

Thanks again for your great tips!

Hi,

I just note that there were other people who have also inquired about these fender flares. Are they still available?

I think I can confirm to buy them at C$200, and may ask your friend to do the painting and installation at the same time or at a later time (depends on how much it will cost, as the financial crisis has quite an impact on my financial...)

Also, please ask your friend if there are mud guards that come with these flares to replace my mud flaps on my XE.

Thank you again!

Not to sh*t on your cake, but don't there have to be holes in place for the flares or is that just the 96-99 R50's?

Vincent: I will find out from my friend about the price for painting and installation and let you know in the next day or 2. I will also ask about the mud guards and let you know.

fukinitupagain: holes are required to install the fender flares but those can be drilled fairly easy if done at a body shop.

Thanks a lot!

Either way, I will buy the fender flares at the quoted price of C$200 and see if I will also have them installed by your friend.

I look forward to your update on the painting/installation and the mud guards.

Thanks again for your help!

I figured that much, what I am saying is, doesn't that seem like quite a bit just for some fender flares? vchowca & CJD91 what is your guys reason for wanting the flares? Is it asthetics?

Yep. It is purely for the look.

In the past, I didn't consider installing them on my vehicle because of the very high cost. However, getting some used flares at $200 doesn't seem too much to me, and if I am not wrong, I don't expect the labour cost for installation to be high either.

On the other hand, if spending something like $1,000 or so on this would be out of the question. But few hundred dollars for cosmetic is still reasonable for me, especially considering the lifespan of the vehicle.

Hi there, I think I am ready to get rid of my flares and replace them with the thin rubber ones. My truck is the SE which happens to be the same color as your image and my flares are painted already with no/minimal wear. Please contact me so we can discuss pick up arrangement and cost (I would ask that you come and inspect/take them off as well) If this works for you, let me know. Thank you.

Good morning. Just a follow-up on the fender flares/mud guards thing...

Three weeks have passed and there is nothing heard from your friend. I guess he cannot find the 4th flare?

Thanks.

yes, unfotunatly I have not heard back from him yet regarding finding the 4th fare. it must have gt lost somewhere or was damaged and thrown away. sorry about that. I will check wit hi again this week but he probably does not have it.

Try junk yards in chilliwack and abbotsford or surrey. they should have some wrecked pathfinders for parts. or check craigslist.
