Hi Everyone,

Picking up my new 2009 Rogue next week. It's an SL FWD w/ Premium Package. The only thing that bugs me about this wonderful car is that grill.

So, please help me decide what to do. Pick your favourite from the options below and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Sorry about the double post...first timer.

1. Stock Chromed Grill

OR

2. Horizontal Chroming Job

OR

3. Vertical Chroming Job

Great forum BTW, really helped me in my decision to go Rogue!

I have the standard, but I'd thought I'd show it anyway. I love it

Vertical grill looks good but it is a still sticking addon to a grill. When you said new grill I thought you really found a NEW GRILL. Well...this is your choice. I'd keep an original because this is just a chrome sticker to me.

Yeah, I realize it is just a "sticker". Easiest would be just to leave it alone or go with the factory chrome.

If I want either the vertical or horizontal grill, I have a friend who owns a high-end bodyshop who says he can help design something custom from the existing grill. Showed him the pictures here and he says no problem.

Once I decide which way to go, I'll post the finished product!

Cheers.

I think the Horizontal makes it look like a Murano

That 2009 Murano looks too much like a robot.Which unfortunately or fortunately, is the directionthat Nissan's designers are currently heading. My first Nissan was in 1984 and it always amazed me how much redesigning Nissan does every year.

Ya gotta admit the horizontal grill gives it a bit of a lower look. From some angles the Rogue looks a little 'tipsy' as in tall and top heavy. Following current Nissan design, the OEM grill would probably be the pick of most buyers. Personally I would go with the horizontal.

Just added the factory grill (only available for 09's), but had them install it on my 08. Fits perfectly, since they made absolutely no changes from the 08 to the 09! (except price) Also added the rear spoiler. Vehicle came w/ the roof rails. Once it was all done, the General Mgr. took a look. Said that I now have the 'visual package.' bottom line... I love the new look. Definitely challenges the high end SUV look! Go for it!

Please explain this. You put the factory grill from the 09 Rogue or Maurano onto your 08 Rogue?

I kind of like the Vertical slats look. The horizontal slats make it look like a Subaru Tribeca.

I was thinking, what about powdercoating the grid black, so that only the chrome frame is shown?

Just to clarify....is the Chrome grill made of hard plastic or is it a flimsy sticker?

Thanks.

It is a thick, rigid molded plastic overlay coated in faux-chrome, with a 3M self-adhesive foam backing.

The same flat bar grille was available for the Murano when it first came out.

That photo looks like a very bad photochop. Of bigger concern is how they mount the upper grille portion. The stock grille isn't recessed, so the bars will protrude. I just can't picture it looking good.

Of course it looks ugly. I totally agree with you but maybe the grill will be another sticking option? It is not that easy to remove stock grill. When I was removing my headlight I had to unscrew almost the whole bumper. Some of those clips that holding the grill there's no way I could reach them without taking the bumper off. So it is either another sticky option or a not easy replacement.

Just received an answer from the seller if anybody interested:"This is a overlay so it installs over your factory grille."

Some company makes a grille like that for the Rogue. I don't remember what site I saw it on though, it was only around $80 or so, much more reasonable than the Nissan chrome grille.

I don't like the diamond pattern, just doesn't really look "right" with the Rogue's body and bumper. There is one on e-bay that has horizontal chrome billet slats. Almost every billet grille I have seen looks like crap in person though, so I think I'll just stick with going the stock Nissan chrome grille finisher route.

I agree, I think that grille looks ridiculous.

Mine has the stock chrome grill, but I admit that I like how the new Murano's grill looks. It's so rich looking.

What if this grill would be painted into a different color to match the car factory paint?
