I have a 2000 maxima GLE, has anyone used seafoam in the car. do itreally works I saw a video on you tube and it seems that this stuff just have your exhaust system blow out alot of white smoke.

Also for the transmission do you have to have the transmission filter replace when flushing the transmission fluid or is it just a drain & refill.

One more thinghow many drive belts is on this car. I took it to this mechanic to have my oilchange. He said that my belts need to be replace. I did my research awhile ago and it stated that this maxima have 2 belts but this mechanic said it got one serpentine belt that's driving everything can that be true..

Thanks

1. have never used seafoam...never have need it, some swear by it, some say it does a lot

2. you should replace the filter when flushing. the filter should come with a rubber gasket too. don't use silicone with the gasket

3. 2 belts. one is power steering, the other is a/c and alternator. power steering is behind a/c/alternator belt. they are not difficult to change.

Take it to a different mechanic. If he doesn't even know your car has 2 belts-He doesn't know squat about your car.

Result of Seafoam usage is mixed. If I were you, I would use either BG44K (@ $18) or Red Line SI-1 (@ $8) Fuel System Cleaner. I've been a long time user of BG44K but switched to Red Line last year after BG44K formulation was changed.

If you are handy with tools, you can do all of the jobs yourself and we can help you. You can buy the Transmission Service kit and drive belts from IoS (infiniti of Scottsdale) - infinitipartsUSA.com a.k.a "everythinginfiniti.com."

Your car requires Nissan Matic-D fluid but Dexron III and the latest Dexron VI can be used.

And Mark's right, stay away from that mechanic as he can do more damage to your car.
