So I went to the dyno this morning to see what my car is putting down. Specs are 370cc injectors, t28 from a GTi-R, EFI Specialists tune, stock maf, and totally stock block. Best results were 293 rwhp and 310 rwtq at 13 lbs of boost. The first two runs were at 10 lbs, third at 13 lbs. I only pulled to 5.8k rpm, probably a good thing because my injector duty cycle went up to 98% . I believe if I went up to 6.5k rpm I could have broken 300 rwhp, but around 8 lbs is definitely the safe limit for 370cc injectors. I'm not boosting over 10 lbs until I have a new tune and new injectors. I data logged all the runs, I'll put them into an excel file and upload them somewhere later so people can take a look. Everything was fine except for that injector duty cycle, that kind of scares me haha. AFR's were around 11.5 to 12 in boost, they didn't use the AFR sensor they had because it was burned out or something, so I just looked at my own wb02. Anyways, here's the graph.

Haha I was surprised by the numbers too. 300 whp is definitely possible with this turbo, I just need the supporting modifications. I'll look into some 640cc injectors and a z32 mafs, but I think I'll be happy at 6 or so lbs for now haha.

Will the EFISpecs give you a retune for cheap? You could bump the fuel pressure 5 psi for some safety room if you want to run 12-13 psi. Depending on the pump, would need a 255lph or better just to be safe.

Friggin great numbers though. Bet it's fun as hell to drive.

wow, those are some awesome numbers from the gtir t28, cant wait to see what this hybrid gti t28 will do for me. s14 compressor on gtir t28, have 610cc injectors, z32 maf, stock block. i absolutely love that torque curve, flat from the get go. that is just great, very impressive.Like WD says a retune would improve it, but bigger injecors and maf, retune should put you past 300 safely.

Yeah it's $50 for a retune, not bad at all. I'm currently winning some 640cc injectors on ebay right now, not sure if I'll win those. I might bump up the fuel pressure for safety's sake, but I'll probably just turn the boost back down. I don't need a whole lot of power and it's not worth risking detonation for.

If I don't win the 640cc's I'll get go top feed, there's a deal on ebay I found for 810cc injectors, a top feed rail, and everything needed to hook it up for $350. I don't need 810cc injectors, but heck if I can get them for that cheap and EFI can tune for them there's no reason not to. Then I'll get a z32 mafs and send in my ecu, then probably daily it at 10 psi.

So how's that for a t2 flange, WD?

Haha yeah, as you said before I'm your guinea pig as when it comes to seeing what this tune/setup can handle. It's definitely a good tune, AFR's are fine and timing is right at 20 degrees in boost. 275whp seems to be the safe limit for the 370cc injectors though, the turbo is probably good for around 320. Homeslice said the GTi-R t28 flows a bit more than the s15 t28, I'm going to see if I can get 325 out of it. If I can awesome, if I can't who cares. I'm happy with this setup at 6 psi of boost haha.

Hey now, I've always said the hybrid T2 flanged turbo's are great for low boost applications. But if you do decide to run more then 10 psi of boost, you'll have a restriction with the T2 flange and you'll be giving up power vs any T3.

Regardless, you're doing good man.

Numbers look very good.

I still have to get ebc on and to the dyno. I'm slow (Vert 5spd swap got in the way).

Are you positive timing was at 20 in boost? Hopefully it's more around 16degrees, 20 timing will give you more power+detonation=busted ringland. I've data logged 4cars running around 8-10psi usually it's 16degrees in boost. 14psi about 14degrees. jwt/enthalphy ecu's t25/8/3.4Double check to make sure timing is being retarted in boost or that ka won't live for long. You've maxed out maf, injectors you usually want 80-85% duty cycle. Becareful as that ka is at it limits

Thanks, yeah I know t2 becomes a restriction at higher boost but I'd rather have good response and lower hp than more power with a bit more lag. Fanboy comment: it's easier to drift with more predictable response haha.

Hopefully I can get 325 at 15 psi, but I most likely won't daily it like that. Once I get the larger injectors I'll probably keep it at 10 psi.

Thanks man. 5 speed is wayyyy better than the slush box, I'd definitely do that before upping the boost as well.

Its just 2 different cars, just only one side of the garage is good for working on them (more room). So my boosted coupe sits on the other side as a place holder for the Vert's hood on its roof currently. And of course everything that can go wrong on the 5spd swap, has, so far.

Yeah, we've had some bad luck with one transmission bolt, pilot bushing, and AT crank 'slug'. But hopefully will be back on the road next weekend (granted its been too cold to drive the Vert anyway).

Super cheap combo is Evo 560cc top feeds with project silvia fuel rail, and jgs resistors. Should be around 200 total

holy crap dude. 370cc, stock maf and you're making that much power out of a T2? Yikes, I need to rethink my whole plan. Good s*** dude.

Yeah, let me upload the logs somewhere so someone can double check them. Timing is right at 20 all in boost, I'm pretty sure I'm reading it right.

If its at 20, retard timing asap. you'll lose power unfortunately but you'll still have your motor. If timing was advance prior it will negate the ecu pulling timing. Should at least leave it at 16,14degrees at wot, a built ka with some meth/E85 could pull off 20degrees.

So even if the ECU has been tuned it won't pull timing by itself? In that case I'll definitely go ahead and set it to 16 btdc.

No, a proper ECU tune would have changed the timing.Odd how you're at 20 during boost though.
