What are you adding "preloading" to? Tein springs are just that...springs, there is nothing to adjust????

If you would like to know more about tein springs...call tein.

he's preloading springs on a set of coilovers not just lowering springs. depending on how much preload you have it may be real bouncy. that's why I took all the preload off mine. I don't know enough about preload myself to be able to set it right.

What kind of tein coilovers do you have?Pre-load is just to keep the spring seated during rebound. So you don't need much.

ok gonna answer the questions yes they are coilovers not springs

they are tein HE coilovers, sorta like low budget tein drifting coilovers and what not

currently i also have a minimal maybe 30 lbs, not even really preloaded at all, and when i dampen to full stiff it is a bit bouncy yes, stiff yes =]

from what i understand about springs, for the most part 0-roughly 40% takes an increasing amount of weight to compress until there then it is the same amount till i guess full compression

from what i read somewhere adding some preload will make the springs require more weight (or force) to compress because they are previously adding a weight lets say 10% so it would require more force for the second 10%, essentially making them sort of stiffer and since i got a full length hight adjustablility on my coilover i can do whatever preload will benefit the most,

i was just curious as to what people put on their drift set up

my friend says about 3 to 4 turns once snug on front and 2 on the rear

any thoughts??

The HE springs on your coilovers are linear, meaning, the spring rates don't change during compression or rebound.

SOME pre-load is beneficial as it will keep the spring seated. Too much pre-load will tamper with corner balance, shock life and what not.

One or two turns is enough pre-load. Or what ever it takes to be able to turn the spring SLIGHTLY with your hand but not have any vertical play.
