Over the last couples of days I've started to hear a clunk on th left front side of my 98 Q. Did some investigating today and found that there is some play where the sway bar link attaches to the sway bar. My question is, is there a bushing that the bolt goes through on the sway bar? If so is it easily changed. And if its easily changed what does the bushing usually go for?

Just replace the stabilizer link(s). Do both sides too. If one is worn, the other won't be far behind. There have been many threads on these links and how to replace them. I've done mine twice. Pretty straight forward. The bushing is part of the link btw, and cannot be replaced separately. The links are under $100.00 at the dealer.

Thanks for the info. Brought it to the shop that sold it to me. They had replaced both links before they sold it to me. Turns out it was just a loose nut.

Just a note about these sway bar links,I changed mine out today and used the sawzall. This method wors but you need to stay right against the metal bracket to be able to remove the stud. The factory sway bar links have a "washer" face on the back side that is bigger than the hole so if you cut to far frome the mounting plate you'll still have the get the nut off to remove it. Other than that it seemed to be an easy process 2 hours total time involved. All the clunking is GONE!!!

the swaybar endlink controls body roll, it keep the truk riding comfortably when your going down the road and when your going over bumpy roads, so as the suspension flexes it trys to keep the body as leval as possible.

and why people disconnect these, mainly guys who do alot of wheelin (goin off road) will disconnect them, when your off road your purposely making the suspension flex and flex hard, doing this will eat up end links fast, thats why you can get quick disconnect end links that have a cotter pin golding them to the sway bar.

so are they necessary?.......i wouldn't say absolutely yes, by controling body roll they are kind of a safety aspect, but a very slim one, if you drive like a jerk on the highway and weave in and out of traffic very fast you might want them in, but i have a couple buddys with lifted jeeps and they dont keep them in. and yes there are bushings for the sway bar, 2 D bushings, if you get under the truk or get it on a lift you can see where the sway bar contacts the frame, i believe there are 4 of 5 bolts that hold a plate over the sway bar whoch holds the bushing and sway bar in place, note the bushings can only be purchased at the dealership.

we disconnect/remove our sway bars not because we're trying to save wear/tear on the end links, but because we're trying to maximize suspension flex.

my pathfinder has no sway bar front or rear and it still drives great, with very little body roll, thanks to the stiffer lift coils.

yes it is the coil lift from 4x4parts.com. it's marketed as a 2in lift, but many people get 3in or more. i got about 3in on the front and almost 4in on the rear. but before the lift, my pathy was a low-rider due to worn out coils from the ARB bumper and many miles pulling a trailer.

i only got the coils from them. i got the KYB GR2 struts and all the associated hardware from Courtesy Parts, and i got the Bilstein 7100 rear shocks from Top Gun Customz.

i couldnt find the kyb struts on courtesy parts, but the struts that i found are more expensive than the ones sold on 4x4parts.com, and for the bilstein shocks, which ones did you get from top gun customz? the ones with 8,10,12,or 14 inches of travel? im not going to lie i dont really know what that means and im curious.
