  MAF question ???

Went to Nissan for a diagnostic and found out that I need a new MAF sensor and also need to adjust the throttle Body . Does MAF improve fuel efficiency or is it just a money grabber like the o2 senor And does anyone have a idea on how to adjust the Throttle body sensors

Any help is appreciated

i wouldnt worry about it if your getting good mileage. im getting really good mileage and my 02's are throwing codes, psht to that. as for the throttle body, maybe they mean just adjusting the cable? does your gas pedal have some play or does it respond as soon as you touch it

Well heres a money saver for ya

The 01 (HAS TO BE 01 im pretty sure) maxima MAF sensor is the exact same MAF, but sells for less than half the price..... stupid stealerships, think it was $110 VS $400+ for the one listed for our car

Theres quite a few threads about it if you search and get the part number, youll notice orderring online from Pinnacle Nissan, that the prices are MUCH cheaper than we have at canadian dealerships, and they do actual rate shipping, no gouging.

As for throttle body sensors, I wasnt aware we had any, but if they are anything like the throttle position sensors on a honda, you simply need a voltmeter and a spare foot, the TPS (throttle position sensor) has to read a certain voltage at idle, and at wide open throttle (WOT thats my name!!! /stupid plug lol), and you simply loosen its retaining bolts and adjust it, by rotating it, until its in spec, you literally have to move it a cvnt hair to see adjustments, reading its voltage by tapping into its lead wire with your voltmeter

Id clear the codes, clean the MAF sensor and IACV body thouroughly, and see whats best from there

I had this problem with my MAF start about 2 years ago. First, they cleaned the MAF and reset the computer, and the light stayed off for about 2 months. Then it came back, so I started pricing out MAFs. I was in the US at the time, but the Infiniti dealer wanted $900 to do it, or $700 for the part. I went to a Nissan dealer, and apparently the Maxima MAF is NOT the same, but I bought a Pathfinder one for about $375 and had it installed by a local guy who I trust. At the time, AutoZone had an aftermarket one for $250, but I opted for a Nissan part.

I was just at an Infiniti dealer today getting a different code looked after (P0420) and was talking to the technician who I am friendly with about the MAF. He said that now you can get an aftermarket one in the GTA for less than $200.

Good luck!

Its even cheaper than I remember buying it, click this link, then paste in 22680-2y001 and change make to nissan, wont let me post it directly

http://www.trademotion.com/par...id=49

Or $110 from this site

http://www.courtesyparts.com/m....html

I got mine through pinnacle nissan by calling them, I think i had them 1-2 day it through DHL and there shipping cost was fair. Courtesyparts is a sponsor here though I think, your choice.

First link works, open it up, and you have to enter the part number in that search box in the middle left, and select the make of the car to nissan, then click search, and the page reloads with the part "volume air flow" right beside it on the right, then you can add it to your cart

$80 dolla, make ya holla

The link that costs $110 comes with the tube aswell (that doesnt fit your car anyways), pinnacle nissans $80 part is just the sensor itself, no tube. If it makes a difference to ya

lol, yeah, msn and facebook work. I just kept this page open and kept refreshing it while browsing other forums, I hate waiting for answers myself.

But doesnt it just suck to know, that any other joe in the world, who had this MAF problem, would simply bring there car into the dealer and eat the $700+ cost?? Like you just saved 700% or something like that, and all it takes to install is 2 freaking screws

Blows my mind
