Hello. I want to install some extra interior lights to give my car a custom look. I figured I should power these by the accessory and a toggle switch.

Where would be the best place to tap into the accessory power wire? The Ignition Harness? Or anouther good ideas? Thanks.

yeah tap into the ignition harness and make sure to use a relay and a switch so it doesn't draw too much power.

I know this is an old topic and i apologize if there is any inconvience but i was wondering if you knew which wire is an accessory wire and which is an ignition wire in the ignition harness by the colors. I have to run an accessory and an ignition for my dif fan controller and i think i tapped the wrong ones cause as soon as i turn my key the fans kick on, which there not supposed to unless coolant is at proper temp. I cant find the ignition harness anywhere in my nissan shop manual. Thanks again and sorry for the inconvience if it is one. Car is a 92 240sx hatch

sounds like you have it hooked up wrong. Dont quote me on this however it sounds like the fan should be hooked up to some sort of sensor. Because when you hooked it to the IGN harness as soon as you turn the key the fan(s) turn on right?

I dont think its anything to worry about. But if you draw too much power you might melt a fuse in your Ign.

What I did with the idea above (old thread) is I ran a hot wire (pos) right to my lights or in your case fan. then i ran a ground wire into the cabin to a switch. - just in your case instead of going to a switch in the car you would want to find the relay for the sensor.

Look up on google your cars owners manual. I think a guy named 'bootycds' made one some time ago. this sound tell you everything you need to know.

thx

Any switched 12V would do... I think I have my ign input on the unit tapped into the power for my TPS.
