get muteki, or gorilla spline drives

you will HATE tuner style, after 3 or 4 cycles of on and off, and the weather, they will rust and split

I took whatever Discount Tire center gave me.

I as well hate "tuner" style lug nuts. My 5zigens nuts wouldn't fit on sportmaxes.

What is this "tuner" lug nut you speak of? I'm serious.

and most of the generic(cheaper) style tuner lug nuts either require a allen key(13mm i think) or a star key

Here is a nice selection of lug nuts:

http://www.evasivemotorsports....de=L1

I have been trying to decide what new nuts I want to go with my new caliper setup I'm doing over the winter. I just have some old nasty boring black Gorilla's on there now. They are putting a downer on the gold Meisters..... want something a tad bit flashier.

why not?

besides, I don't think meisters (or any other work wheel) is designed for the "tuner" style nuts. You wouldn't be utilzing the lugcentric holes to its potential, imo.

Nice, I didn't realize Work had open lug nuts.

As far as only using the Work nuts on Work wheels, they aren't any different than the RAYS, Gorillas, Spline Drive and of course the Work nuts that I have owned. I have used any combination of those nuts on Work, Volk and Advan wheels. They all had the same tapered end.

I will most likely be going with some brand of closed extended nuts or those Works you posted.

oh yah, I know that. I have on right now the 5zigen open ended ones, and they're like any other aluminum lug nuts I've seen/ used.

I was just stating the work ones for purely aesthetic purposes. They have like 3 different colors... but I think the red ones would go really nice with your gold spokes.

also, Kics have a new line up too (which include baller open ended ones)

Project Mu if you don't want the flashiness of the Project Kics. Never back out. I have yet to strip one after several times of taking them off and on. And they look great. Too bad the whole set might cost as much if not more than one Sportsmax, lol.

Kinda off topic but do they make monochrome wheel locks? I need some but wanted something that matched these lugs I got.

I dance between 2 different sets of lug nuts. I have a set of Vision Motorworks aluminum lugnuts I picked up off Ebay in blue, and a set of black Muteki SR48's.

As they take a different socket size I generally use one nut from the other set as a makeshift lock. By that I mean when running the blue lugs, one will be black and vice versa. Also, after almost 2 years the color retention on the Visions is far better than the 5Zigens they replaced (at a fraction of the cost I might add) And if you are curious about longevity, and overall quality, I may add I remove my wheels every 6 to 8 weeks to clean and inspect my brakes/ suspension pieces.

Honestly though you can not go wrong with the McGard or Gorillas available. Just keep in mind if you go aluminum use anti-sieze on the studs, do not use air tools to remove and install, and do not over torque. I tighten mine down to 70 lb's.
