When I inquired about the extra $1,000 (I hadn't read the message correctly at that time), the salesman asked me what my current vehicle was. After I told him (Lexus), he said I would qualify for the extra discount, dropping my price to $39,500 for a 100% fully loaded AWD Journey (except aero body kit). Here is an excerpt of that email message that he sent out:

I'm still not sure how this is supposed to be applied. Is it just $1,000 on top of the $4,000 dealer cash that they have been knocking off up until now, or is it a $5,000 rebate on top of the current discount (and my salesperson possibly holding out on me).
If anyone knows for sure, please post! I'd hate to lose out on a better deal right before signing for mine.
