So I got my 'consult cable' from Jason at EMance today. I was a little disappointed at the construction of it. If any of you have looked around online, there are a few places that show you how to do it yourself, with the ATX Computer Power Supply plug.Well, this is what he sent me. Basically the same thing that I could have made. But he did send the board that is used to help the laptop communicate with the consult. Which can be made too, but is a little more difficult. Here's some pictures for reference.

Jason at EMance Consult Cable.

Old/First version of the Blazt Consult Cable(which they sent a free replacement when this one died, without sending this one back)

Compare yourself at the quality. I will be hooking it up tonight, and comparing performance to the 'newest' Blazt consult cable out there.I will also be testing my S13-S14 OBD1-OBD2 harness adapters with consult as well. Updates on that later.

I also received the new tune for my GT3076R, so that will be updated as well.

Well, the traffic here seems to be consistent with the still water in a bog. Just not enough people I don't think.

S13/S14 Harness is a go. The consult works and everything. Plugged into the S14 with an S13 ECU for testing. One harness is kicking a Code 34 and 54. Knock/Detonation Sensor, and Auto Transmission sensor. So I'm thinking the pins are fudged up possibly.

I am working on getting an S13 ECU to work in a 2000 Altima. Keep your fingers crossed.

I'm close to giving up.

so it works ok? I plan to make a board but found out my buddy has a emulator, so the thought of consult is nice but no longer is as important for me.

I think with the way the economy is right now $$$$ money for all our toys "turbos" is shorter these days and the traffic has slowed for a while.

What can you do with the consult cable? How much is it? Etc Etc...

The harness basically lets you run an OBD1 ECU in your S14. You can tune the S13 ECU to whatever you want. ROM wise. And then swap back your S14 ECU when it comes testing time. Just swap back the corresponding Injectors, MAF, and anything else, and you should be golden to sniff/test.Also keeps you from chopping your harness. Also, wiring in consult will help you keep track of what's going on. Just plug up to DataScan, or any other consult softward, and you should be good to do.

Looking to charge 100 bucks for the harness with consult connector. Fully tested and guaranteed to work since I have an S14, and I can plug in an S13 ECU and work out the bugs if there is any. Going to be bumping the price after I get established, because I have to source the parts(time), buy the parts(money), and then take the time putting everything together(more time). At 100 bucks each, I make approximately 9 dollars an hour doing this. Which isn't much considering it's tedious, nerve racking, and plain old boring. I have already incurred the cost of parts to make 3 more of these. Which it cost's roughly 45-50 dollars to make when it's all said and done. I make more sitting on my butt at my 'real' job. lolI will be going up to 125-150 after I get established.

Or pay RyWire like 250 for them, whatever. I think some guy on 'the ORG' was charging 180 for them, but quit making them.

Hope that's enough info. I guess if you cant figure out what it's used for, you don't need a KA, or even a turbo for it..

You going to make your own Consult cables too? I have an intrest in getting one of those to hookup to my laptop. I already have an S13, so I don't need a harness :p

Id def pick one up from you eventually if you can get one that works for a s14 with a s13 ecu.

Your setup for fine soldering right? Solder station + a good sucker..?

I think I figured out I was making around $8 an hour when I was making harnesses. And I make over $20 at my day job, so it began to be not worth the effort. Not to mention, long hours of sitting at my desk and soldering seems to give me bad neck pain.

I've already sent a few people your way who contacted me about making a harness. Good luck with it.

Soldering and tedious wiring jobs are awful...which is why I would pay for something before I'd do it myself.

Eric...(I) know what they do etc, but the average jockstrap may not and any info you can give will increase your client base. Do I need to send you Small Bussiness For Dummies...the EXTRA DUMB VERSION

Hey now, cupcake. I represent that....

Nah man. I don't make the consult cables. You're better off getting a Blazt cable, and doing the software package with it and get the real Nissan DataScan. I cheaped out, and now I'm having a hell of time getting it all to work right.

Anyone else has any questions, my e-mail is in my profile. And if this does work out, I would like to get into the 'fabricators' corner, or at least get established as a Nico seller and contribute back to the community. That's my goal anyways.

Alright man, thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about making it myself, as I have a ton of extra computer power supplys and cables and all that lying around.

Good luck with the fab corner and all that

No. Unless you have a source for the consult connector. Chop off his bull****, and wire in the real deal. Can be had from Canada, or Japan for 10-20 dollars I believe. But by that time, you can have for a bit more, a Blazt cable with some real software that you can datalog with.

So to each his own. I learned my lesson. I make S13-to-S14 adapters, cables, and tune all on my own now. Buying crap/cheap parts kinda forced me to learn how to do it on my own.

Glad you got 'his' software, to work even...

Nobody said it didn't work. It's just a pain in the azz to work with it, and try to drive around with it while it's plugged it. At the track maybe? Yeah, it will fall out. And it stretches out your consult pins on your car side so that next time someone else tries a consult it wont work.

I'm glad nobody listens. Makes my day. Especially when I can say I told you so.

Like I said before, take that thing to an Auto-X and datalog with it. I bet the connector falls out after a few laps.

Didn't have trouble running it..the only things is what some of the stuff mean..it had no manual of what each thing did..like the TPS it says 0.10 volts so I know it's wrong cause it should be 0.45 or .55..so it does help...just need a long cord and hide it under the dash so u can just connect it..

I too decided to give Jason's product a try... Being a tech I already have a Snap-on Mt 2500 scanner but am using it on a JDM Pulsar and don't get all the datastream I am looking for. [ I have to trick it into thinking it's a n/a 2.4L(instead of the SR20DET)]. At first Jason was very informative and I felt confident it would work for me, so I ordered one right away. Upon recieving my cable, which I might add looked extremely home built... I tried almost everything to get this piece o @#$% to work. Used multiple different cables and even 2 different computers with totally diiferent operating systems. Upon contacting Jason, and doing some troubleshooting, he suggested I send it back and he would test it and get back to me as to if it were me or the consult board that was the issue, then send it back to me or replace the defective board. I returned the cable immediately... Was so anxious to get this thing working. It has been almost 2 months of sending e-mails and phoning him, and nothing... He will not reply back to me, I was very polite the whole time but still he will not reply to me anymore. Sent me a defective product, took my 60$ and is probably laughing all the way to the bank. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS SELLER!! HE IS A DEADBEAT! And he wanted me to send him an ecu to tune? After my first experience... NOT A HOPE! I should have listened to all the people who rec'd NOT using E-mance.

Unfortunately we've all known Emance is a total scammer for a long time now. His products are full of issues and once he gets your money he stops all contact with you.

In short he's a real piece of s*** person who needs a wicked beating for scamming so many people.

^ Agreed. He may do some good work if you are local to him and take your car to him. But his 'mail order' business is teh such'...I'm glad people search and find this stuff. I hope it keeps people from making a bad choice.
