OK, so although I had the red/amber lights in the car for a while, I didn't really like the way I did the install. It came with a little module that allowed you to switch between flash, strobe, on/off w/ music, etc. Well, I didn't want that, I only wanted a toggle switch, so I bought one and installed it.. here's some pics... enjoy!

Clean install, I would have gone with white lights but red is still nice.

Can you tell us where you got the lights and the switch from?

That looks really good. Want to come do my car in Blue. I would love to get that done. How idiot proof is it?

Got the switch from http://www.Oznium.com about 7 bucks shipped!

Got the lights off of ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/4PC-RED-LE...l1262

Oh yeah, adding white light is a VERY BAD IDEA!!!! you want to add ambient light, light that doesn't affect you eyes when you drive. Red and Blue are two lights that do just that, hence the reason that most dash lights are red/amber or blue. Its the same principle as working in a dark room, or why airplane cockpits have red/amber lights.

Even when installing a navigation system, you're supposed to hook up the illumination wire so that, at night, the screen automatically dims, and isn't too bright. That can really distract you while driving. Getting these footwell lights in white may end up being distracting, even if you don't realize it, the constant stimulation of your cones (in your eyes) with white light can fatigue your eyes! All in all, just not a good idea to go with white!

Its moderately simple, even for a beginner. Again, I've been into car audio/video for years, so it was pretty simple for me. Each light is permanently attached to the controller switch (not shown above) after I cut those off, there were four individual wires inside, I simply figured out which ones were grounds and which one was positive, spliced all the grounds together, spliced all the power together, then connected those to the corresponding wires on the switch. I used a drill and then a dremel to create the hole.

In regards to power and ground, I have 4 TV's, a video signal amplifier, and an XM radio all hooked up. Thus I have a power and ground cord that I piggy back off of for all of my additional needs in the car. For you, you would just need to find a fuse in the fuse box, and connected to a fuse that turns on when the car is turned on! Pretty easy DIY!

Yes, there's a pop out panel down below your right knee, I used that one because, if I messed up drilling the hole, that piece is very cheap to replace from the factory!

Yes, those little spaces next to the trunk button are def usuable. I prob. would have gone with that spot, however that space is occupied by my warning LED for my alarm. Also, because of all of the aftermarket stuff I have hooked up in the car, I already had power and ground wires I could piggy back off of to get the power to the switch!

yes, footwell lights, regardless of color, are legal as long as they can't be seen by other vehicles. The 08 Hondas have an option from the factory to come with blue illuminated footwell accent lights. It looks just like mine, its just blue.

it seems odd that you could get a ticket for footwell lights that have obviously been DOT approved if they come as an option from the factory from Honda... I'd check on the accuracy of that statement!

So does the IS350, god damn that's a beautiful car.....LEXUS has the best Pearl White color I have ever seen! I fell in love! I wish my car that same Pearl White! According to one of the reps, the paint on the Lexus is a 41-stage process!!! BTW it also has interior LED lights combined with halogen bulbs, looks really elegant....I know all this because I while I was checking out the IS-F, I sat in the IS 350 at the Toronto Auto Show.....it has white footwell LED lighting....I LIKE!!!

I second this! I want to do some lights in the car, but I have NO knowledge AT ALL about electric stuff...if you make a video that tells "run a wire from HERE to HERE, and thats all!" then I'll do it! :-D

Right, my bad... I should have been a little more clear... if it's those bright neon's you get from pep-boys they can write you up... if you can prove they are factory then i dont see the ticket holding... I also meant that they can give you that ticket as a secondary offence, not necessarily the main reason they pulled you over... does that make sence?? But then again, NJ cops are fickle... some are cool, others can be d!ck and write you a ticket for a licensplate frame

OK, sorry, been real pressed for time lately...

1. yes, its the little plastic piece right next to your right leg when you're driving.

2. The piece just snaps out of place! Its almost impossible to break this thing! You may have to manuver it a bit to get around the connection point down by the pedal, but it's pretty straight forward. I'll take pics and try to post a video when I have the time, may not be until this Sunday though!

3. Yes, I used all four... two on each side... you get better glow that way!
