Bose with after market head unit with doesn't sound good.I believe have two choice either all bose or all after market. i have heard of a few bose with aftermarket head unit and the sound quality is not good but i could be wrong. you might be right that the previous pathfinder was modify for better sound. if possible, you should compare the two installation.

The bose speakers are powered off their own amps and are rated at a lower impedance. You risk burning out your head unit if your using an aftermarket headunit with the stock speakers.I went the all aftermarket way and bought Alpine amps and speakers. Sounds outstanding! Scosche makes an OEM amplifier adapter (this one I think - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-f...4NN03). Not sure how it might affect the quality of the system.

hey everyone i fixed the problem i had. i was using the integrated harness which plugged in to the RCA outputs of the aftermarket deck instead of connecting individual speaker wires to each other. this somehow limited the output of my factory speakers. anyway i bought a regular harness with loose speaker wires instead of RCA cables. now the highs are loud like they should be.thanks for everyones help

Slickroger, I have a Pioneer aftermarket deck. It appears all 4 of my Factory speakers have been blown, per a Stero Installation shop who put in the original system. He stated that I should not need a Crutchfield harness, rather just some good replacement speakers.I am preparing to replace all 4 at least the front two first, and see if standard 3 way speakers will work with the AMP output. It appears the original speakers are 2 Ohm. Most aftermarket are at least 4 Ohm. Will that work ok with the amp that is in the wiring path? Did you ever consider by-passing the amp and just drive the speakers off the aftermarket head unit. If so, where is the amp located on pathfinders. Are these 5.25 or 6.5 size? Thanks in advance on your thoughts. Signed, Every thing sounds tinty.

In your situation i would honestly just take out the remaining bose equipment like the 3 amps and blown speakers and do it all fresh. unless your going to use replacement speakers that are 2ohm. there is an amp in each of the front doors and one behind the driverside quarter panel in the trunk.
