When I try to start my motor with the MAF on it wont start. It'll barely pop at all.But when I start it without the MAF, It'll start right up without hesitation. But without the maf it doesn't like to be Rev'd

I haven't tested it as yet, gotta wait untill next weekend. I'm also going to swap it with a RB25 MAF. From what i saw on the RB replacement thread on page 3 I have the same part number on my MAF.

Or maybe do I have the wrong MAF??Are the 20 & 25 MAF's the same?

By the way, I have a RB20DET if you didn't know.

Found this on E-Bay.Is this a RB20DET MAF??N60

J60 (22680 02U00 A36-000 J60)Because this is like the one that I have:

OK, well the 2nd guy who wired my car came over. Cleaned up the harness and routed it nicely for me. He also RE-wired the MAF.The person who wired it for my originally wired it incorrectly.

It started with the MAF for the first time but then died out.

So I'm going to try the RB25 MAF, next week. Will the RB25 MAF need to be re-wired or will the ECU have to be modified???

Also, I've now found out that I have no Tach signal coming from the ECU. I've tested the #7 pin on the ecu and no voltage comes out, and I've also hooked up a wired under the hood. ( the wire that's in that little tube with the cap on it)

I belive my tach works (aftermarket DEFI), I've used it before and when I touch the signal wire for a QUICK sec to the + side of the bat the needle jumped.

Anyone have any ideas on that??

I have used both mafs and found they both work but are NOT the same. The green has better resolution for the rb20det The purple caused some pinging at higher rpm...those are used in rb20e's

Thanks for the info.

I actually found out that it was not the MAF.It was the wiring ONCE again.

Took it back to the 2nd guy who wired it for me.He's fixing that and the Tach up for me.Hopefully It'll all be straight when he's done.

My 20 came with a purple and I thought that was the standard for 20's... Did the later "series 2" rb20's come with the green MAF? I have both maybe I'll try the green at some point. I always assumed they had a different output/VQ table?

OK, Finally got my harness back from the guy.He didn't do shyt with it.He looked it over and I still have the problems. (Dying with the MAF plugged in and no Tach signal.)

So I was talking with him and he said to check for a Ground on the MAF. But me thinking if there was no ground on the MAF, nothing would happen when It was plugged in.So like I thought there is a Short to the two grounds in the MAF wiring.

I think there might be a short in the CAS or something that would have to do with the Tach signal, because NOTHING is coming out of the ECU pin #7 (tach signal)

Anyone have any ideas??

could be the internal ground for the maf has been fried, seen it before, easy fix is to route an external ground and power.

I don't think so, because I've tried 1/3 ecu's on my friends RB and my maf on his car. They both work.

I've tried his Maf on my car and still dies outs.

When you say internal ground?Internal in the ECU?

What I'm going to do is pull apart the harness and test the wires that go to the MAF and the CAS.

I HATE WIRING!!!
