Well , Recently , 3 days ago to be exact , i made the purchase of a brand new Sony CDX-Gt310 head unit, and two used Alpine type R 12" subs in a sealed carpeted enclosure. the head unit was 129 with tax , and i got a steal on the subs and box , and only paid $130 (each sub retails for 200 bucks roughly and the box would have been a 120 dollar box) for them off a guy from an NY forum im on. i already had a Jensen 300 watt amp and then i caughed up 80 bucks and baught a nice 4 gauge wiring kit from wally world . it cam with a capacitor and 100amp fuse and nice mountin brackets for the cap. I was actually quite impressed with it. The subs hit incredibly hard and shake my entire car , i love deep , hard , tight bass and this combo deff does that! Ill post up alot of pics tommorow and maybe a video or two...

please post up yur guys' set-ups and tell everyone what you like in your music and tell about your system... pics are very welcome!

thanks

I dig the amount of money you spent. Last I heard, car systems have an average life of 2yrs before they're stolen.

One suggestion would be to upgrade your sub amp, and use the Jensen to power your door speakers. Also, clean up your wiring!

***My stuff***In my explorer, I have these installed in the front doors. They sound good, but if I was to do it over again, I would have bought some Infinity'shttp://www.memphiscaraudio.com...id=17

My s2000 is totally stock, but is in need of a headunit, door speakers and hopefully a sub behind the seat, but that is going to be tough!

On my motorcycle, this is my sound system. And

haha thanks..but yeah i just installed it the other day and havent had time to clean up the wiring mess , im gonna slive holes and bring em up through the carpet so they look better and eventually mount the amp to the box , i think if i used the amp to run the door speakers that itd fry them , but yeah i deff wanna get a bigger amp like around 500 watt rms

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Back in the days, my cousin had a shop install (8) 8" Kickers behind the seats in his '86 Toyota MR2 plus (2) 12" Kickers in a plexiglass bandpass box in the trunk. I'm sure you will be able to fit something back there in your S2K.

I'm building my system right now.

So far I have an Alpine 9856 head unit.

Upfront I have some cheap pioneer 4x6s.

In the hatch I made plates to mount 6.5" components. I filled them with a pair of Focal 165A1s

I'm powering these with a cheap 50wx2 pioneer amp

To Come:

98% fiberglass box(only MDF for the rings) ~1.5ft^3 enclosure for two 12" subs.

For now I will leave one of the rings blanked and put a single JL Audio 12W3V2D4 in it. Eventually I'll put a second one in there, or even upgrade to a W6, but that'll be too loud for me.

Not quite sure about the amp i'll use yet, but I'm thinking a JL 500/1 which I get dirt cheap brand new through employer

For the front I'll make some fiberglass door pods(I would make kicks, but I rest my foot where the pods would be! ) In these pods I'm planning on a set of focal165KFs or maybe even a set of 165K2Ps(retail for ~$950 )

For the speaker amp I'm thinking either 1 JL 450/4 or 2 JL 300/2.

Total value of the system is going to ending up around $2k~$3k. Total cost for me is going to end up around ~$800

Oh, are those new or old type Rs?

A coworker had a pair of the Alpine type Rs and they had an accordian type suspension rather then the half roll surround.

Mine is what I like to simply call "spool". I have no speakers theyre all removed and no headunit. so my sound system is just me talking to myself and the spooling of my turbo.

man was it a b***h moving that box down a flight of stairs. thing weighs close to 80 pounds. damn near threw my back out trying to pick that thing up. then i had to pull my tank and compressors out to put the box in. and it was cold as hell outside and supposed to rain so i was working quick.

i still have more to do. my 4ch amp was stolen so i gotta replace that. dont know where the hell im gonna put it though, and its bigger than my 1ch.

the air ride is the dopeness. got it back in 2001 and been lovin it ever since. it was a requirement for me before i got kitted.
