That was i was trying to say in his other post but no one seems to care. When there car is on fire or to a lesser extent they cant get it started because of improper wiring and a burnt out switch... oh well. It is much safer to cut the wire at the ecu for the fuel pump relay and put a switch on that. Much lower volts. But do what you want.ZiG wrote:Running that much current through a toggle switch is a bad idea. I've got mine wired to interrupt the power going to the fuel pump relay signal.
its a 30amp switch for a 10amp fuse, and if the switch gets over loaded, it will blow the fuse just like its suppose to.ZiG wrote:Running that much current through a toggle switch is a bad idea. I've got mine wired to interrupt the power going to the fuel pump relay signal.
much safer and cleaner looking, all the wires stay inside the car. Just about all switches in a modern car are ground side controlled.driftin8nez wrote:That was i was trying to say in his other post but no one seems to care. And how do I find that wire??driftin8nez wrote: It is much safer to cut the wire at the ecu for the fuel pump relay and put a switch on that. Much lower volts.
I can help you by telling you what you should post so you can get an accurate answer. I assume you have a 240 seeing as that is the section we are in but what year and also what engine. The ecu pinouts differ between a CA,SR,KA,RB. (like how i listed from smallest to biggest)DrFtKiNg180sx wrote:And how do I find that wire??
I know, but it seems that lots of people are dumb and decide it's a good idea to run the power wire inside the car like that. I wonder what it does to the fuel pump? I mean, these people can say they dont care or they dont think the switch will have a problem with it, but the bottom line is that it's the wrong way to do it. And it isnt any harder to simply splice into the fuel pump relay and use that wire.driftin8nez wrote:

Im sure your route would be cleaner, and mabey safer, You should make a write up on it, i'd like to see it. I just threw this together for AzHitman, i originally dropped this article but it was requested to be made again.driftin8nez wrote:

Eeeexactly. It's weird.. I have an 86 trans am and on all of my 'redneck' trans am forums (thirdgen.org) you NEVER see people doing things like this.. My favorite is still the writeup where the guy puts the e-fan in his s14 and powers it with a radio shack switch and not even so much as a fuse.RyanAwesome wrote:How bout one on the control side of the fuel pump relay instead? Please? You could be saving some innocent s chassis'! Think of the s chassis'!!!
lookin forward to itdriftin8nez wrote:Ok I'm going to try and locate the pin outs for all year 240's and all the different engines. If i can make a list of where this wire is on all those cars I will take apart mine car and snap some pics of my finished product and make a write-up. Without a list of pin outs the write-up is basically pointless so let me work on that first.
