Ok so... shipping company calls me and tells me I will not get my engine untill Monday because it was not shipped untill the 12th.. I have to drive two and a half hours total to get it.

I open up the oil cap of my newly arived SR and what do I see... What is this rust looking stuff on my cams?... Why does the oil smell like gas?

I cant believe they shipped out an engine in that condition.....
Maybe the bottom end will be fine because it is "less exposed" than cam lobes. Did you try taking one of the cam caps off? see what the journals look like? Maybe if that's in ok condition, bottom end bearings might be fine.
I bet the cylinder walls are pretty rusty too. I see that in alot of SRs thats been sitting around alot.

I'll post a pic tonight of a 130K mile KA that's still shiny silver through the entire head, no varnish, no sludge.

I doubt they intentionally sent you a ****ed up motor but they areliable because they were negligent if the product was not deliveredin "as described" condition.
they don't owe you a rebuild, they owe you another used motor ingood usable condition. if sean wants the first motor back he shouldpay for shipping and crating plus comp shipping on the second one.otherwise, he should let you keep it for parts to compensate you foryour trouble.
if it is easier for him to pay for a rebuild and you are happy with thatoption, then it is up to the 2 of you to work that out. the reason thisis such a big deal for nico is because takara is a sponsor.
I really hope this works out for you kenrik, cause that hella sucks.
