I was wondering where is the PCV Valve located on the engine. I asked the technicians that I work with but they cant find it either.

for sohc or dohc?

sohc is easy - right between the fuel rail and throttle body - there is a 3/8" inner diameter hose going to the TB, the pcv valve is right there.

on the dohc, it is hidden on the bottom side of the intake mani.

If you search, you'll find the answer .

On the DOHC, the PCV is in an awful place to get to.

like the said, you can barely see it on the back left side of the engine (when standing in front of the car looking at the bay)

Also the FSM does a good job of giving the general locations of the emissions controls...

How important is it to change the PCV valve anyways....is it really worth removing the alternator? My oil does get dark rather quickly, but will a new pcv really be worth the time and effort?

Unless it's directly causing any trouble, it's not that important. I'd replace it as part of a maintenance routine when working around that area.

It depends on what you consider being "worth the time and effort." If the pcv fail and cause all sorts of madness - idling issues, stumbling, etc. It may be hard to trace it down to the PCV (if it's the cause) bcs there are so many diff things that could be it.

If you replace it before it goes bad, then you have the peace of mind that it should be fine for another 100k+ miles.
