well I posted on a thread awhile back cause I have a problem with my car going into limping mode and while im on drive I can't go past 30 mph and the car acts like its over-revving cept it was only at 2k rpm. I was told here that it was the MAF or the intake but those checked out and the mechanic changed the fuel pump and the filter cause it was going bad and thought that the car was starving on gas so the car went ok for about a week and now the problem comes up again except worse and I can barely pass 10 mph. The strange thing is that sometimes I start the car up and everything runs fine and runs smooth and other times I start it up and the problem comes up. The question is would a malfunctioning auto transmission be the problem? thats what my mechanic said but I wanted to double check and make sure before I buy another transmission to put it in.

ok two poss issues.one is the revlimitier. if you cant rev(in neutral even) over 2000 and some change rpm, then there is some prob with maf or maf circuit. the ecm is in maf failsafe mode.one is poss auto trans issue. if you can floor it and car just creeps off you may be stuck in 3rd gear. if ecm/tcm see certain probs the trans will go into a/t failsafe which is really just full mechanical mode with no electronic control. mechanically you have 3rd gear and reverse.

I had a similar problem I brought it to a repair shop and had over $3000 invested and still didn't fix the problem. My problem was the Mass Air Meter. Went to junkyard and got it for $25 runs fine ever since

well right now its working fine and the problem pops up randomly but I think im going to fix all the possibilities of the problem just to be safe and hopefully never see the problem again and ill see how that goes.

Sorry if this is a noob question but how do you look up codes for the car? I went to local autozone and asked if they could and they said only for cars 96' and above. -_-

you have to get access to the ecm and turn the little screw on it untill you see the blinking light. it will blink out the code to you.
