yeah, shim and bucket rules. however, the finger followers make it possible to have a variant of the sr20 with vvl. thats found in the sr16ve and sr20ve variations. so thats kind of mixed. the sr20det's ought to have shim and bucket in my opinion. the roller rockers are kinda cool though in the later sr. the early sr all had main cap girdles. the ves and the later roller rocker motors dont have it i believe. oh, and i sooooo love the 8 ports. that is one sweet feature of the ca. to each his own. i personally think the ca could have been great, except they didnt use it enough. over here there are so few ca motors around(de that is). the sr is definitely a corporate/modular type of engine design whereas the ca was a niche kind of deal.

sorry for going so off topic.

i've seen it done, the guy basically made a vg33et for himself, im not sure of cost effectiveness but its a radical setup

if you knew what you were talking about you would realize that the ca is more technologicaly advanced then the sr20, thats why they stopped making it, it wasnt cost effective.

ah hah, didnt realize mcadam already took care of my last post.

have you considered the vg30det out of the nissan stagea(i think?) i know its made, i bought one for a friend, and its still sitting in his garage. you would definately have to make exhaust manifold mods, but its easier then the tt, and you still get the dohc, the best of both worlds.

oh, and they are hella cheap, about a grand for one with a harness and no computer, no trans, they where only available auto anyway. jim wolf will reprogram a tt computer for it, and the non turbo harness will work on it with slight mods.

just to keep this thread rollin and I want to see pics, lol!

the VG30DET came in a JDM CIMA. there was a pic of the intake [ort on a DET sitting next to a head and intake from a DETT, you could fit the DETT port inside the DET port and still have plenty of room left over. massive. A friend of mine wants to do this swap in his pathy. I think he's insane, but he wants to do it. it would be badass tho. have a pathy with 450rwhp roast all 4 while hes taking off from a light sitting next to you. hrmmm, nissan typhoon??? lol

I am pretty sure 89% than the vg30dett can swap with out much of a problem into the 93’style pathfinders
