look in your trunk behind the drivers side speaker (pull back the trunk liner) back there you will see a little red blinking light (LED of the TCS computer) that is tuff to see unless you have your head cranked against the drivers side and then count the LED blinks (while the car is still on in park, don't turn off the car otherwise you lose the error code), then look up the # of blinks in your FSM....this will help you trouble shoot what your problem is. I have 18 blinks so it is either the TCS actuator or pump. I use to only have the TCS & SLIP light come on for the first month or so very randomly and now the ABS light comes on so I finally hunted down the problem. My TCS actuator buzzes like crazy when I first turn on the car....then stops after the error lights light up my dash.

Ok, I have the same issue over "Slip" and "TCS" lights.Which relay do I have to buy? Parts numbers? How did you installed it? Thanks!

it's the ubiquitous blue relay (same as the starter relay).you need two. p/n 25230-89981. you have to take the battery completely out, then they are under the tray.

I have changed the two blue relays below battery ($25 each at Infiniti of Honolulu), and the warning lights "almost" never shows up again.I still hear the buzzing noise after start up and it goes away after few seconds. Is this serious problem? How can I fix it and how much would it cost? Thanks!

your TCS actuator is going bad.....only solution is to buy a good used unit off a member as Joes price is like $750. Mine went bad as I could hear the same loud buzzing sound every time I initially cranked up the car.

zerothread?id=134681

As with all R&R of parts...once you have done it once, it is very easy to do it a 2nd time around. I could probably do the swap within 1 hour flat now but the first time around was a real pain in the back. Definitely you need the proper brake line wrench.

Because the tires slip [too hard compound not fast wearing oem compound] and wear out the electromechanical contacts in relay] my guess.

The system probably only had a finite life----number of cycles per year.

More likely to use TCS than ABS.

MY code came up secondary throttle position sensor - played w/ all plugs and wires in that area - still pops on more often - Do u think the relays will solve the problem??

It should be in the manual.

The FY33 with OBD II is much more sophisticated in its traction control, so I doubt there are any relays employed. It is all computer controlled from the ECU, I would bet.

Better check your alternator.

Would it show up if I got it scanned at autozone? My alternator is practically brand new.

I checked the manual and all it said was if the lights were on and the system is malfunctioning than this will help your "Infiniti Dealer" figure out what the problem is. The, thing is, I would like to fix the problem myself. I am scared to take this car to an infiniti deal because I do not trust the two closest to me because they charge rediculous prices for mediocre work.

What does price have to do with fixing the car? You get it diagnosed for less than $120 and then decide whether they or someone else will do the actual work.

My new alternator is oem. I had it installed by infiniti in Indianapolis for approximately 1000 dollars. I've had infiniti dealers charge me for something I already know. For instance, the one time my check engine light was coming on, I got it check at autozone and they said it was O2 sensor number 2. So I told infiniti this. They replaced the sensor and charged me an additional 80 dollars to check the check engine light when autozone does it for free.

You negotiated the price or at least approved the expenditure!

We charge a 1 hour minimum diagnosis fee also. When you replace the O2 sensor you must plug in a scan tool to reset the ecu to confirm the repair, then monitor the O2 switching time [for 5 minutes warmup] to make sure it won't set a MIL when the owner drives away.

They should have explained this to you!

I was unable to negotiate anything. First of all the situation was bad. I told them my alternator was bad and it needed to be replaced. They said I could bring it in, in the morning and they would replace it and I could drive it home. When I got there they said they didn't have the part in stock and couldn't give me a loaner or find a rental for me so they had to drive me home in another car. I asked them what labor would be and they said they didn't know. They could only tell me that the price of the alternator was 500 dollars.

Zink im gonna look it up in the parts book to find some relay numbers.. however if your getting a TCS light OBDII should throw a code that you can read with a scanner!

my Q used to do that for a few months, then it went away. i looked in the trunk to get the code and it turned out to be the secondary TPS. didn't even bother replacing it, and now it stopped.

I drive a '97 Q45. The TCS, ABS, and SLIP lights came on a few months ago while driving back to San Francisco from LA.

Today I had Autozone run a test and it came back with the same code Zinkee got.

I'm gonna try listening to these guys at Infiniti-help.com. To Quote:

When Antilock Brake System (ABS) malfunction light is on Indicate problem occurred and system is deactivated until problem is rectified and light is reset. Brakes will continue to function as normal system without ABS controls.

On the left side of the engine room is located the ABS actuator, next to the actuator is a black box 2 x 2 inches with the ABS relays, is common on 1990-1996 Q45, All J30 and 1991-1996 G20 that one of the relays stop working properly and stays on even when the car is not running, the relay can be identify by touching and feel which is the relay that stays working. To resolve the problem the relay has to be replace, after replacing the relay the ABS light will turn off by it self. If the light stays on please contact your Infiniti Dealer for further diagnosis.

Note:1997-2001 Q45 have the same problem, but the ABS light is combine with the TCS and Slip light. The solution is also the ABS Relay.
