Ok so I thought I would make a build thread since I have some things planned for my car. Lets start at the beggingin

I got my first car (S14) in june of 2006
Image

The car was primered, 200k miles, 5 lug in the rear and 4 lug up front. Many things happened to it from 300 zx wheels, roll paint and other things but sadly the car was killed by a drunk driver but because of that I got this gem.

Image

The first thing I had to do was swap the 5 lug parts over but in the process I couldnt take off the rear ones because they were stuck. So I had to run 4 lugs in the rear for a while. I had a lot of trouble converting it over but it finally got done

Image

2 weeks after, I find out it had a blown headgasket. So I got it rebuilt and I swapped it over to 5 speed. Got all the good stuff like ARP stuff, head rebuilt and all that.

Info is here: rj-s-engine-rebuild-and-5-speed-swap-56k-t315865.html

I wanted to be lowered and fast because everyone was making fun of me. I saw someone selling used megan street coils online for 400 so I picked those up with the stimulus package thing.

Image

Probably the best my car ever looked. Then in September of 2008 I got my Silvia front and swapped it over. This was during that hurricane but I was eager

Image

Somewhere down the line I got coupe doors and swapped that over but I dont have pics of it for some reason. Shortly after that I sanded the car down and tried roll painting again. It took me a weekend but it looked nice for what it was

Image

Then I got S14 wheels for a good price, painted them white and got my dad to buy me used tires for an early b-day gift

Image

As I leave work, my transmission blows, so I get a loan and buy a rebuilt trans and exedy clutch with 14 lbs flywheel and Circuit sports short shifter

Image
Image

I also got SR injectors and an N60 MAF and got a chip from E-mance. The car runs nice and it feels great on the butt-dyno but I have yet to get it on a real dyno.
Car runs great again

After about a year of not doing anything and getting a job at Tread Quarters, my car starts acting up. It just dies as I was driving to work. I had a walbaro fuel pump laying around but I didnt have any of the other stuff that was needed but thanks to SCI2000tech it was able to get done. The store manager of my work is a friend of mine that was pretty good at drifting. During our down times at work we stitch welded my car

Cars lookin great man :bigthumb:

Something you might wanna try when you get done stitch welding the bay, remove as much as you can from the engine bay, cover the engine and everything else in tin foil, and paint the bay white to match the car.

Obviously it's not gonna be the same as if you were to take the engine and everything else out to strip the bay down and paint it, but I bet if you were to take your time it would look really nice and flow with the rest of the car very well.

Keep up the good work and be sure to post more pics

I try to do what I can at work. I usually only have about an hour to do things before we close shop.

Is it worth doing the truck as well? I figure since its braced in the rear that it wouldn't make much difference

I hope you are painting those spots.

Sounds like you are doing some fun stuff. Does this mean I can get a couple tires mounted for cheap?

I did some seam welding for the first time. I sanded down stuff in the car and gave it a shot. Half of it looks horrible then it slowly starts to look slowly somewhat better. I need to finish this up so I can put my interior together.

Oh man were these a pain. The bushings were actually a lot easier to remove than I thought if you cut the outer rings out and use a air hammer to knock it out. Installation was a breeze

I finally finished pushing in all my bushings, the press at work wasnt working because of its a cheap one and I couldnt fit most of the stuff on there straight to push it in. So I reached in my box, grabbed a arp stud, 2 cup washers and a bolt and BAM. It worked better than the press and it worked on ALL my bushings

Image
Thats me wrenching it in

Image
Then the completed project.

So if anyone wants to do this, you no longer need a press :D

put these in yesterday

The bolts that came with it were too long and that made me angry. Luckily my coworker had some left over ARP studs and those worked perfectly. It isnt as bad as people say but then again my car shook so much so this is actually about the same comfort wise. Its true that it vibrates alot but only when you drive slow (ie neighborhoods). Driving in the highway is not bad at all

Are they solid metal or rubber? I have polly filled OEM mounts on my Coupe and its not bad to me (but is to those who aren't used to it).
