A member on the FB group has contact R2C Performance (link) about making an intake for the M56/Q70 5.6L. However, they need a test car to do it on.

Anyone within a reasonable drive who wants to take one for the team and spend some time there?

This company is highly regarded and has great systems for other cars.

I'm 14hrs from Chicago and would consider it as a last resort...but really don't want to drive that far hence why we're looking for someone maybe 3hrs away.

Bump! Just talked to R2C and they would prefer someone close by because its going to require three separate visits (unless you are cool with your car there for a week). First one is to take a look around the engine bay and take measurements. 2nd visit will be to test fit the prototype, and the third visit is to create the instructions and take photographs for installation. Sounds like they will compensate your for your time by giving you a free intake system.

I've got a V6 and made a couple extension brackets to fit the G37 intake on. If you can get this fitted for the V8, it will be a great option for 56 owners.

I'm only 2 hours away, I would be there if I could.

Does R2C make one for the V6? If not, you can probably help them out with that too.

At this time we are looking for a VK56VD (M56 and Q70 V8). I believe the intakes from the G37 is a close match for the M37 and doesn't require too much modification for it to work. It wouldn't hurt to each out to Ed over at R2C and inquire to see if he would like to check out your car for the M37 application, possibly even make some drop in filters.

Sorry if it wasn't clear. I traded in the G for the M and took the R2C intake that I had on the G and put in on the M. I only needed to make a couple brackets to have it fit. I started a thread on it about a year ago when I did this. :)

Ah Gotcha! Someone local with M37 installed an intake for a G37 and it didn't seem like it took much work to get it to fit. How are you liking the upgrade from a G to an M?

The upgrade is nice. The big thing I miss is the 6MT I had in the G. It really truly makes me sad thinking about it. I love the extra room and the refinement of the M over the G. It is much improved. Another sad thing is the lack of aftermarket support for the M. I have AWD and the support is even less.

Once I get coilovers and wheels for the car, I think I'll have settled into a car I'll keep for the long haul.

Anyway, back on topic! :)

Yeah I came from the 2007 G35x and there are days where I miss driving that car too. The M56 definitely has more power but the overall driving experience doesn't seem as polished as the 2nd Gen G35/37

Last I heard his car was getting a new motor put into it at the Infiniti dealership in IL.

Dalap83 has a new 5.6 Q70, not sure if he'd even be interested though. Sent him a PM.

Thanks Steve. Can you update your profile to show your general location? Didn't realize you and Dalap were near Chicago.

For sure. Consider it done, sir. I live roughly 1.5 miles from Vernon Hills, but I have a lowly 6 banger. I can also make a call to a friend of a friend who has a 12 M56 I've worked on before. I put a Stillen exhaust on it, so he may be interested. I'll see what I can find out.

I believe we have Naldo that was interested but I just emailed him for an update. In the meantime BlackCat81 let me know if you're friend with the 12 M56 would be interested. We can have him as a backup if he's interested.

Been emailing Naldo here and there, last I heard he was going to contact R2C a couple of weeks ago. I haven't heard from him since.

Funny, I was just talking to the dude about this. I have his 11 M56 (previously thought it was a 12) in the shop now doing timing chains. He's interested, I'm in Libertyville.

Oh okay, so you know him personally. Nice. Let him know the community is still very much interested in having R2C make an intake for us M56 guys...he'll likely get a free intake for his troubles from R2C. If I was within 2-3hrs I'd have a free intake by now :P.

OT: Timing chains related to the sound I'm having? Warranty covered? Check my thread, I posted a new video...if you could.
