In freshalloy the tester said "cai". Is this just a typo or are they building a cold air intake? I thought it was a short ram intake. Please let it be cold air, that would be awesome. Sweet googly moogly .

In my opinion a cold air intake is where the air filter resides outside of the engine bay area. R2C's traditionally have their filters located in the front of the engine bay which would make it a short ram intake but utilizes a box design that isolates the filter from heat generated by the engine allowing only cool outside are coming through the front grill.

^^ correct. It doesn't suffer from the heatsoak of a traditional 'pop charger' or short ram.

Any non-stock intake pipe and conical filter setup is a cold air intake in many people's mind. :facepalm2

That's true Debonair. Like I said, a actually CAI would be awesome but it would require removing the washer fluid. Anyone willing to do that? Lol.

Prototype fitment testing means they've already designed and built at least one model...excellent news indeed.

I know I paid about $300+ in the past for my oldG35x. No clue what the pricing will be for the M56 yet.

Last I heard, all the engineering work has been completed. R2C is in the process of getting equipment to start manufacturing these intakes for us soon.

When Ilya created this thread at the end of October, after I reached out to to R2C and they had expressed interest in creating an intake for us. It took a few months to find some test vehicles in the Chicago area but we finally got two M56 to step up and take care of this. Thanks to Blackct81 for referring one of his clients. I was able to locate the other M56 a member of Freshalloy.
