*More Updates*

Bella came home today! She'll be here for 6 weeks, so you will see plenty of updates.

-The motor and tranny are in.

Greg and I will be working on the interior, installing the gas tank, the brakes, we have to find an intercooler and an S13 throttle cable, and other little odds and ends. It's more than enough to keep us busy with our schedules.

Here's some pics I snapped today. Enjoy!

Think I'll book a trip to Surprise when you get her going... or just near the end so I can wrench on her a little bit and be there for the maiden voyage.

Very nice looking Z, hard to find a clean looking shell like that to even work with. How are you going to be wiring it... let me know cuz I had some bad experiance running the RB efi system through the original Z harness, I switched over to a track car-ish system with relays/switches powering most things RB and the car feels much better... might have just been my car but im throwing it out there for consideration.

Transmission mount, powdercoated and ready!

Installing the dash overlay - Will look great when it's done!

Engine mounts done.

Intercooler mock-up... Looks good, right?

OK, intercooler fitment for real...

Notching / boxing frame for radiator fitment.

For ANY project, having a whiteboard helps.

Filling some holes in the firewall, now that we know we won't need them.

Getting the RB back in its carrying case.

Great clearance, front AND rear.

Differential swap... Ugh. This part of the project has taken a lot of the fun out of it. More later...

Jason is a hell of a fabricator.

He and I have worked together for so long on projects, he knows I come up with some good ideas, and I know he can execute those ideas in metal.

Tomorrow, more work on the Z. I'm getting excited to see some real progress.

why not just use the stock R200 bar? or the azc aluminum bar, or the ttt aluminum bar?

Because...

The car came with an R180 and I didn't have a later-model R200 bar...

I'll never buy a thing from AZC...

I'd rather build it than buy it (esp something pricey like the TTT).

lol, dave is an azz but does offer some items that just can't be had elsewhere, and TTT is pretty reasonable and Gabe is a good guy, heck you probably could have talked him into a trade off for promotion, but why not use a 280 R200 mustache bar?

if you were gonna go through the trouble of fabbing a mount I think a z31 mount would be the way to go

That was a 280 bar. It's thicker and wider than the 240 bar.

I wasn't about to pull another diff at a junkyard just to get a damn bar...

This was really no trouble. Took less time to modify it than it would take me to drive to the wrecking yard and back, and it was free.

**UPDATE**

Bella is back! Jason is done with his part of the project so he brought her back home today.

We have been so crazy busy with our other projects that she has been neglected for a while but as soon as the wagon is done, she will be next in line. The critical stuff is complete. The motor and tranny are in and they work. The dash is in, the wiring is done, all the lights work. the rear end is finished. We need to measure for a drive shaft and fix the brakes. We also need to finish the interior, cut the body for flares :ohno: (I will not be present for this step), get tires, and finish up the cosmetics.

Priss decided to give her a bath before we pushed her into the garage.

Time to make a checklist and get started. :dblthumb:

Wow that is a gorgeous Z! It brings back memories of my first car, I had a 77 280Z that was painted a very similar color that my dad restored for me. I still miss that car every day, my mom made me sell it because she thought it was too fast and unfortunately she got her way since I was only 16 :tisk:

I still hunt for one all the time, but have yet to find one anywhere close to me that's not rotting away. Very nice Z though, can't wait to see it when it's finished! :dblthumb:

Unfortunately, we won't be making the trek this year. It's too close to the kid's return to school. Bella wouldn't be finished by then either. We are concentrating on the 411 at the moment so we can take it to JCCS.

Finally got the bumpers back from the chrome shop... I welded up the holes over a year ago. :(

Front air dam fitment is questionable at best, but it looks awfully sexy.

Tomorrow, she gets rear springs / shocks and hopefully brake lines.

Are you making your own brake lines? Also, seeing as how everything is sort of fresh and new, will you be using DOT5 brake fluid?

Kinda - I re-bent a couple of the OEM lines, most were new from Nissan. Need the soft lines to the calipers and then it's ready for fluid (will use cheap DOT5 to test, then flush and fill with ATE Blue).

Cheap DOT5? I can't seem to find any of that, its all like ~$15 for a piss shake of the stuff around here.
