According to mines;

Quote »Japanese GT-Rs are speed-limited for the street: As has been widely reported, unless it's driven on a preapproved racetrack, a stock Japanese-spec GT-R is limited to 180 kph (111.8 mph) with the factory settings. GPS sensors in the navigation system track vehicle position and communicate with the ECU. Try to exceed 180 kph, and a warning light will appear on the instrument panel. Only shutting the car off and restarting it will get the light to disappear.

But can be run all-out at the track: Running a GT-R at the track requires scrolling through menus in the on-board computer and selecting the racetrack option that bypasses the speed limiter. Only then can the car be run to its full potential.

Though it'll cost you: Once the track day is over, owners who have run their GT-Rs over the speed limit are required to take them to a preapproved Nissan High Performance Center for a safety check. Failure to perform this $1000 service will void the factory warranty.[/quote]hmmm. Can anyone say big brother is watching? After one spends 80k, they have to get the right to drive the car they way they want?

All your GT-Rs are belong to us.

I will sincerely enjoy my first confrontation with a new GT-R.

"want to race""can't""you have 500hp man, why not"?"car will shut off and my warrantee will be voided and only nissan knows how to do anything on this car"As I start smoking my tires on my 85 Skyline I will be sure to ask."how's it feel having all that power and no freedom chump"?

That must be why exports are severely limited. Either that, or they have secretly sided with communist China on the workings of the OBD system...

time for what? While everybody else was marveling at the technology I was seeing the writing on the wall. These things do not go away, they get worse. You WILL see all cars very soon hardwired to prevent tampering of any kind and you WILL see cars that tell some sort of authority, be it the company techs or the cops exactly what you are doing in your car. Like all new stuff it debuts in the flagship but as the technology becomes cost effective all cars will have this stuff. Print this out and take a close look at the tiny serial number your nifty printer puts on each page identifying your printer and subsequently you, same idea. I will not pay a car company 80K to have them second guess what I do with my car. You are welcome too if you want.

Think so? I am willing to bet by the time the time limitation expires laws will be in place that will block it by other means. It will likely be a diagnostic and or emissions statute. Wake up dude, the government does not serve you, you serve it.

Registered and titled doesn't mean that it's a legal car. I am pretty sure you have been to the Skyline forum and read through the sticky at the top. It's a lost cause for now, as there are no importers that can get it done 100%, unless that importer can make an OBD II compliant ECU for the RB26. As of right now, that is the only setback for the R33's between 96-98,

He does it so cheaply, probably because he knows what he is doing isn't fully legal, and he's selling as many as he can before he gets nailed for fraud.

The state does not overrule the federal. If it is ever contested your title will mean nothing. I have a good buddy who is out 15K at last count trying to sneak his R into the states. Something as simple as a wooden pallet caused his container to get increased scrutiny and it all came unraveled. Now he will be lucky if he gets the car and engine back, forget the legal fees, that's down the toilet. The government is not stupid, just not all that interested at the moment.

you have to apply to bring it in as a track car, and bringing it over as parts is not illegal, but reassembling it is.

and answer my question, why do you capitalize the first letter of every word?

hahahahaha if only it was that easy.

all your electronic controlled garbage (ABS, TCS, ASM, that kickass little screen in the dash, that controls EVERYTHING) will disappear. not only that but the car will never pass emissions.

thats a cute idea but totally not realistic.
