Finally got around to doing this. Took me a really long time to complete, then again with limited funding and ZERO knowledge aside from what I've seen in forums and living in red neck hill billy big truck "HEEE YUK" land, I say I did pretty good I could do and it came out looking all right

So I drove 438 mile to pick it up from Sunnyvale Ca, then 438 back to Brookings Or (google maps that shiz) All with high beams only, no hood, fender fell out side of SF and all in the rain. Fun huh??? Excuse the tarp, I got my fender back too.I got her after having said hello to an off ramp guard rail not only once but twice. So both sides were pretty crunched.I wish I would have taken more or better picks when I first got it b/c the rear quarters were way worse then pictured. So it called for new headlights, fenders, bumper and non-existent hood.I smell...................KOUKI CONVERSION But first rip off old crunched poopy stuff.pretty crunched up behind the headlights, I'll get to that later on.....but first that oem wing has got to go packed the hole with tape and bondoglass the toptime to sand that shiz smooth (resperator cuz I didn't have the little coffee filter kind at the time)Ok so with that done on to the trunk.....The kid before had some subs and stuff in the trunk to that foamy stuff was ozzed all up in there for sound deadening. scrapped most of it out. I have ocd...had to get it out.... then I never have liked that center light so BONDO!Then ripping out useless weight bearing creature comforts Why have a spair that 4 lug when i have 5 lug z32 conversion. Yea yea! speakers?!? who need those? GONE!So with it semi gutted on to the fenders and what not that just came in the mail. pretty much speaks for itself, drilling, sanding, cutting, just making it fit.... improvising, like hammer! poor replica fenders the molds aren't exact so I had to make clearance on that A pillar.....idk how there is such a huge gap but ya there isn't much i can do, move the door.. then the window wouln't touch the weather stipping or even get close to touching, so I blame the fenders being warped in the mold....now on to my hood had to adjust the latch thing and move it up for it to catch and hold it down. the finders and hood were WAY off, like and inch off each side and thats lined up with where the oem fenders sat and replica fiber glass ones didn't help either....like the gap and how much that side was crunched down and doesn't meet up with the hood? i did untill 2 in the morning!Wewhahaha! ten lbs slam'n slide hammer!at one point i got it pulled up enough to get a little pop can jack in there to push it up. (like my paint/artistic skills?)So i got it pulled up enough it looked kinda close, i did the best u could do with a hammer and primative tools. Now for my new headlights yay!no oem brakets for the headlights to go NO!ghetto filing cabnets laying around hmm? GHETTO FAB headlight brackets!p.s. wear a resperator, rubber gloves, and long sleeve. fiber glass shaving suck! all night itching.p.s.s. eraser ya the pink one helps take them out off you.like i said id get back to that trunk of mine, i made it my test piece for the paint i used DUPLI COLOR PAINT SHOP!!! ftw here's how she came out.Ehh ehh? nice for 18$ can of paint....time for me to take it to a friend house and use there garage and access to there tools and compressor.New home!good bye antena!that rear quarter is like and inch thick of just bondo no kidding. thats the base coat. more to slap on there. I hate rust, so does Mr. Wire wheel. Mr.wire wheel meet rust.BAM!! great first impressions....more guttingAir bag? wtf?... thats why I have a helmet! What did I say? and inch thick!a few hours with the air chizel brute force and removal of no longer needed tabs that just add weight.stupid as it may look lost 4 lbs and ready for chassis welding in the futurethat too I took those out, manual mirrors now.Such a beautifull sightSo getting ready to paint the inside...Kids meet my friend MINERAL SPIRITS!It cleans this...and this goo that was herefiling cabnets come back again to patch my floorold wheelsnew wheelsthe "kool offset" pic i still need my car slammedlook at thatand that?!!? rattle can ftw!and this thats not in order with previous pixSOOO prepped and ready freddy?....and yes im sorry I left the camera in the car while i painted so no pics of the process :Pbut here is the aftermathThe end!

...for now...SR20?......untill then DRIFTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!! meow?

Btw, a few questions bout the paint

- Did you use a booth?- How many coats?- Sanding before/in between

And dude, if you don't mind could ya take some pics in the sun? Can't really tell from the garage pics.

Overall, clean s14. :bighthumb

im extremely impressed with this paint.

did you rattle can the whole thing with the stuff you used for the trunk lid?

i think i might have to do this once i get my wrecked coupe out of my garage...

VERY nice.

did you just tape up all the glass/weather stripping, and have at it with the paint? i think i really might have to just paint my car myself...

The bondo is holding up well. i don't think it will matter in the future though might be looking at over fenders... but ya i want big on the bondo idea either. it like1/2 to 3/4 in' thick when i reflect back on it.

the paint: out of a two car garage. on the color coats i wetted down the floor, kept the door closed. i could have had fans pulling air out of the garage and had the floors wet the whole time. but ya i crossed my fingers threw most of it.

tack rags are ur friends. id let dry between primer, color and clear and what ever little lint/fuzzy/bug that landed when it was wet i just take off by going over lightly with a tack rag when it was dry

Tip DONT let the hose touch the car while wet when paint I could have punched a baby i was so mad when i had two hose drags.

i used 3 quarts of primer3 quarts color and 3 coats clear untill i emptyd the cans with my wal mart paint gun.

better pix in the future for sure. iknow im actually looking to get pro photography pix. still really dirty from my first drift clinic ill get pics and video's up from that tooo.

oh and tramp: thanks mang nah just wal mart gravity fed paint gun, only thing i rattle can'd was that gold trim piece thing that the windshiel wipers go on.

taped off as much as i could found out that i actually can take off alot of trim pieces just depend how ballzie you are to tear your baby apart. just need to get a fork to get those little pop plastic pins that hold your weather stripping on. dupli color paint shop SEZ you only have to have a clean surface but ALWAYS ALWAYS even if with a scotch bright ruff up the surface. in my door jams i had a couple of peals.... spend like 150$ ish on supplies and paint. most expensive thing is the paint strainers when you poor your paint into the gun like a 1$ each and i used ALOT. make sure your lids on tight! my shoes are still glossy clear coat shinny, and make 100% nothing is guna come in and wreck your paint job, make sure you have 100% access to your car 180' around withough tripping over things. and ya....

Tein coils ftw too btw my super drifts pwn muppets faces.

s13 teddy?

SF rocks!actually bay area was ALOT nicer then the 1650 mile total drive earlier this month to south L.A. for that drift clinic. the roads down there suck sorry but I drove my coiled car the whole way and at the hotel I PISSED BLOOD!!! the roads were so bumpy they ****ered my kidneys up so bad. but worth ever bit i met Taka Aono and Hiro!!!(nicest down to earth guys ever) that clinic was the koolest thing ever! best money can buy for a venue. I wana move down there now, for college. i'm guna trailer the car tho...

The paint gun uh idk just the cheapie'est gravity fed one at wal mart, its a little kit with blue guns, w/ white cans cleaning stuff with a little baby gun and a big one......

ya buy those weapons from tires.com NOT enjuku tires.com saves you 98$ total on a full set compaired to enjuku. but enjuku does have super advans with like -52 off set makes me wana cry thinking out how i could curl up in them. then kill my self at like 600$ a rim. i paid that for all four.....

Thanks dudes im am quite happy with my s14 choice. I've got more parts and pic to come after Xmas here soon. sr probly next summer im thinking tho. Id rather have more time behind the wheel and slowly build it tho.

well ive already been through the car stripping process with my 1990 coupe, and i replaced all the interior in my 92, so ill probably just end up stripping everything out/off of it when the time comes, and paint everything. ill still have to mask off the glass and any weatherstripping that i cant remove.

definitely post up more pictures when you can, im still mindblown about how it turned out.

That is a very good decision. If you start off basic and add from there you can feel the differences in the mods you make. Also not every is a good one so this will help you learn. Lastly to many people build there cars for drifting, go balls to the wall with the build, without any behind the wheel experence, and when there build is done they are to scared to go out there and try because they are afraid to wreck the nice car that they just built. Starting slow and working your way up will help lessen the nerves. I dont see anything getto. I think this is awsome and cant wait to hear and see more.

I learned paint and body from my Mom actually Haha

the ready to spray dupli color stuff is awesome iknow 2 other guys that have used it, depends all upon how much time you take to prepair it, masking, cleaning the surface and supplys, mine could have been better, just dont let a moth land on it like on my friend paint job (eek eeek eeek hate bugs now they f up paint jobs)

it's called Dupli Color Paint Shop (got mine from Napa Auto Store) they have the basic colors:orange(general lee orange)silver metal flakewhiteferrari redjet black I thinkbright yellow andmetalic blue

You can mix them too btw.... There Laquire base so that means no mixing required just stir the thick stuff of the bottom and spray, they make color, clear, and primer all the same way like 18$ a quart. I shot primer color and clear all the same day with a 15-30 min tack time.6 in the morning till 11 at night (my arms got really tired.)

I didn't do any sanding between coats oddly enough. just when it was dry id wipe off the fuzzies with a tack rag.

I haven't cut and buff'd it yet so it still looks like a refridgerator at the moment. it looks sorta matte Im kind of affraid of trying to cut and buff by just from what i've heard HOW to do it. never even seen it done...

ha sweet man. Body work isnt that hard, just people are scared to do it thinking they will mess it up. If you do mess it up the worst that can happen is you lose a little money in supplies and time. just sand it back out.
