I am currently tasked with making a new front lip for an insurance company as their policy holder received light damage to the front end and the front lip on her 07 M-35 sport. kind of puzzled, nobody makes one that is of good quality? the only unit they located apparently was not up to either the dealership's (yeah I had to use that word) standards nor the car owners standards.

So I just finished the mold, and fickle as life is, I'm thinking perhaps it would be good to test fit the part on someones car that has not been damaged and repaired.

So if any members here are in the Scottsdale Arizona area perhaps they could lend a hand, no drilling or any crazy stuff like that, just test fit and perhaps if your nice enough to lend that hand and like the part We can help you out in return.

Not soliciting any sales, just want to deliver the best part possible to our customer.

Thanks,
Joe

perhaps it would help if I showed some of our work, saying I have a mold done may not be providing enough information. I will keep it simple and just post a couple links, hope someone in the greater phoenix area can help us out.

just finished the mold tonight, will be pulling the plug out of it mid afternoon Friday, prep and clean up should take only a few hours then we pull the part. Would like to test fit late Saturday or early Sunday if anyone is interested.
I hope to schedule someone for a test fit as early as I can in case there are any fitment issues that need addressed.

Thanks,
Joe

Looks like a copy of the oem spoiler which is already being made by Sarona.

I think M owners are looking for something different, on the aggressive side.

I don't think he's trying to make a new/custom lip, but simply replace the oem one the customer lost in their accident

That's exactly it, the insurance company ordered one from a vendor and both the repair shop and the owner of the car were unhappy with the part. I am not aware of who made the part they ordered.

The fitment on the customers car went well and they were happy with how it turned out. Sending it to paint this week and will mount it to the front of his car next weekend.

Still hoping to find one other car to test fitment on, not sure if I should keep the mold to produce more just cut it up and dispose of it.

All the best,
Joe

The front end of the car that I was working on has some great lines, I could see some very real possibilities for such a project, in fact the 2008 that was at my shop a couple weeks ago also had some very nice lines in it. Plenty on my plate right now and still have found no local members interested in lending a hand with the first project so additional efforts will have to wait until I find some free time.

All the best,
Joe

I wouldn't be so quick to destroy it, if it fits, I'd play with the overall design a bit and offer up some custom stuff for sale. I think a few people here would be interested in new stuff to mod.

Sean,
Thanks for taking the time to come by and visit. Your 45 is quite a fine ride. Looking forward to seeing you after the little one arrives and everything settles down with the new bundle of joy.

thought you might like to see how it turned out.

That looks great. There were a few people on here who wanted the aero kit.
You might be able to do some sort of group buy now that you have the mold

Looks really good!!! What material did you use? I'd be interested in side skirts and rear fender kit with diffuser :)

the chin spoiler is carbon fiber and 1.5oz matt.
Parts that your interested in are very achievable, takes lots of time to develop such parts, however I do not wish to abuse this forum and am not sure if there is enough demand to warrant becoming a site vendor with only one mold for the platform at this time.

I took some liberties with the basic "sport" chin spoiler there are a couple differences between the stock part and the one I built, surprised nobody has noticed or questioned those changes.

Joe

My M is a 2007 and I'm not familiar enough with the stock part to notice any differences, but I can tell you what I like about yours. I like the way it reaches all the way over to the wheel well. That makes it appear that the lip is part of the body instead of looking like it was glued onto the existing bumper. I also like how it is tapered in the center, accentuating the L&R ends and giving the ends a leading edge that wraps around to the wheels - also I like how the edges by the wheel match up with the flat surface that already surrounds our wheel wells.

Thanks so much for your kind words.
The tapered edge as the spoiler starts to round the corner was a gamble I took while the customer was out of town. It allows the spoiler to lay flat against the continuation of the front fender with out providing an area that could shrink or change shape easily. As this part is carbon fiber and fiberglass it is not flexible for installation, this required making two removable ends that continue into the fender well.

There is one other slight difference from the stock spoiler, I will be curious to see if anyone picks up on it.

thanks,
Joe

^ I'm going off memory, but on the stock aero kit front lip, the center looks more of a pointed center whereas your build looks smoother without a pronounced center... Just a thought...

Having only had what was left of the stock chin spoiler after it was impacted by the tread off an 18 wheeler; I could only make a part that flowed and felt correct to me. The center has a break point, I chose to keep it under defined and flowing. As the tread impacted the original spoiler just left of center much distortion occurred along with a split at one point. I did find that the original part was very much so a quality part, and very fine looking indeed. That made making the spoiler both a fun project and a bit high pressure as keeping the clean look became priority one.

Thanks,
Joe

Are you going to produce more? I would really be interested on purchasing a set if the price is respectable.

the customer will return with the car in a couple weeks, then we will examine the part to assure everything is correct. I most likely will be repainting the chin spoiler as well as the lower area of his front fascia as installing and fitting a untested part always causes some damage, and even if it is only slight I make it right.

after the review I will consider any changes that may need to be made, and determine if pulling a production mold is worth the investment.

This part is made out of carbon fiber, there is fiberglass backing as well in required areas.
I do not see it as a part that will be too pricy.

not sure what interest there is in the part, if there were enough I would consider becoming a site vendor and putting together a group buy.

thanks,
Joe

Will this for just the front lip or the side and rear as well. Either way, I would love to purchase one. Keep us updated, please.

Thanks,
