That's exactly it, the insurance company ordered one from a vendor and both the repair shop and the owner of the car were unhappy with the part. I am not aware of who made the part they ordered.DoN_BLaZe34 wrote:I don't think he's trying to make a new/custom lip, but simply replace the oem one the customer lost in their accident
The front end of the car that I was working on has some great lines, I could see some very real possibilities for such a project, in fact the 2008 that was at my shop a couple weeks ago also had some very nice lines in it. Plenty on my plate right now and still have found no local members interested in lending a hand with the first project so additional efforts will have to wait until I find some free time.06M4.5 wrote:Looks like a copy of the oem spoiler which is already being made by Sarona.
I think M owners are looking for something different, on the aggressive side.

Thanks for taking the time to come by and visit. Your 45 is quite a fine ride. Looking forward to seeing you after the little one arrives and everything settles down with the new bundle of joy.

Thanks,
really appreciated your help.

My M is a 2007 and I'm not familiar enough with the stock part to notice any differences, but I can tell you what I like about yours. I like the way it reaches all the way over to the wheel well. That makes it appear that the lip is part of the body instead of looking like it was glued onto the existing bumper. I also like how it is tapered in the center, accentuating the L&R ends and giving the ends a leading edge that wraps around to the wheels - also I like how the edges by the wheel match up with the flat surface that already surrounds our wheel wells.sinister extremes wrote: I took some liberties with the basic "sport" chin spoiler there are a couple differences between the stock part and the one I built, surprised nobody has noticed or questioned those changes.

Having only had what was left of the stock chin spoiler after it was impacted by the tread off an 18 wheeler; I could only make a part that flowed and felt correct to me. The center has a break point, I chose to keep it under defined and flowing. As the tread impacted the original spoiler just left of center much distortion occurred along with a split at one point. I did find that the original part was very much so a quality part, and very fine looking indeed. That made making the spoiler both a fun project and a bit high pressure as keeping the clean look became priority one.CPJ LB wrote:^ I'm going off memory, but on the stock aero kit front lip, the center looks more of a pointed center whereas your build looks smoother without a pronounced center... Just a thought...
I would also like to know if you can make more of these and sell them.jhuerto23 wrote:Are you going to produce more? I would really be interested on purchasing a set if the price is respectable.
