hey so recently i got a pm from a guy on here, matty boi, asking me to do a custom manifold for him. im always up for some fab work so i agreed to the challenge. what he wanted done was take a stock sr20det manifold and cut the head flanges off, then weld on KADE manifold flanges.

so he ended up cutting the stock flanges from the KA and sent me the complete SR manifold and the KA flanges. then when i got it i cut the SR flanges. i beveled the edges of the manifold and the flanges then i bolted the flanges on to a spare KA head. got to welding.

here are the results of matty's sr24det (as he calls it lol)

here you can see where i cut the flanges and the bevel i put on the 3 and 4 runners
Image

we used s13 KA flanges and they needed some work to be used

i would like to see a california highway patrol catch on to that car being modified! NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!

lol T2 VS. T4

there is another guy that got a hold of me after i made this manifold and wants me to do another, and possibly one for a KA24E with a CA18DET manifold. should be fun

mods, feel free to move it if you think it needs to be. thanks

Thanks for choosing BADASS INC.

I'm sending you my manifold once I find an SR20 manifold + heatshield!
I've wanted this ever since I saw this type of setup at the Anaheim K1 meet.
I'm also really jealous of his stock SR intake box. :(

Really cool dude!

Alex did some awesome work!! this is the man for the job, welds are neat and look like they will hold up in the long run. Im really happy with the setup its fun and reliable and the most important thing to me was it to look 100% stock since my exterior looks like this lol

Oo! I saw your vert there!
But there was a green sileighty at the first ever K1 meet last year or in last Spring.
Super sleeper status KA-T man! Better than mine! Haha.
Where'd you get the SR20 intake box? I'm looking for one with no luck so far. :(

Got it from a chill local dude on zilvia, he used to import alot of cars from japan and had everything for oem RHD s13's and s14's. it was the only sr airbox and intake he had though... :(

Always thought this would be a good idea, I would want mine to have the EGR integrated too though. Want to try and save for a house down payment before I start turboing my only car though, lol.

yeah edwin's green sileighty at the first K1 speed event in anaheim was the first time I saw this kind of setup for a KA-T.

Having been refereed already for my top mount t3/t4 setup that won't pass a visual inspection, I would strongly recommend this setup if you are in CA.

The stock SR manifold won't flow as well as a tubular but if you are going to stick with stock internals you'll max out the rods before you max out the exhaust mani, and T2? If you want more power, there are gt28's that will easily max out your stock internals

did the SR downpipe and hotpipe line up perfect? I ask this because I believe the KA sits a little to the side like an RB compared to the SR.

good work alex!

matty boi, do you have any vids of your ka-t setup? I'm curious to see how the ka sounds with a SR manifold.

I used a 3 inch greddy turbo elbow to a 3 inch (idk what brand but used from a friend) down pipe. Had fitment issues with the DP hitting the under body but had a local shop mod it for clearance. The fitment issues could also be from my JGS motor mounts. I have no idea if they had anything to do with it but its possible.

*EDIT* Hot pipe fit nicely with the stock sr 45 elbow, straight tube section and two 9o degree elbows. i routed it through the bottom for a more stock approach. pics to explain.

No videos as of yet, its not loud if thats what you wanted to know. I have the stock muffler on for now since i fixed my ticket. cant even hear the BOV since its recirc. only thing you can hear is the turbo spool at 2,000 rpm. I'll post future pics and videos in this thread.

Pretty much! Im in no rush for that one though, sponsors are hookin it up with a gutted and a spacer. Whats the size like on that t2 flange? Could you have thrown a t3 flange on the end easily? I bet that with a t3 and a heaaaavy port job would end up being the best bet for the 924 setup. Plots are happening...
