I hope that adaptor will bring it back to normal, bluetooth is nice but doesn't charge my phonebpippin wrote:Cyberdeath: Thank you. That was precisely the answer I was looking for, unfortunately. I have an iPhone 4 and I love how I have full control over the audio through the navi screen and steering wheel. Sounds like that won't be the case with the iPhone 5 and new Lightening connector. Bummer. I wonder if the adapter to 30 pin would restore that functionality? (I have an iPhone 5 on order. I may cancel it now.)

Teknical wrote:I would like to update you all that the Lighting to 30-pin adapter from Apple works well with my iPhone 5 in my Infiniti (2008). All of the Infiniti's navigation menus work fine though the stering wheel controls, etc, as does Pandora, DI.FM and any other internet radio you might use. I still need to use the charging adapter (I think this isn't an issue with newer cars), so I end up with 2 adapters as seen here in my picture:
By the way, the iPhone 5 is great. Siri over Bluetooth works great. Now she can play podcasts, read and respond to text messages. The turn-by-turn GPS is a great companion to my Garmin Nuvi too.
No kidding?? Out of curiosity, is this (e.g., Pandora/YouTube) functionality an iPhone 5 thing only--or did it also work with the 4, 4S?Teknical wrote:Not only does Pandora and YouTube work over your speakers, but so does the new turn-by-turn GPS in Maps. It fades your music down temporarily then gives you directions. Really neat.
Correct, Pandora YouTube, etc worked with all the phones. Just the new GPS is new, but that would have worked too if you had the Garmin or Tom Tom apps.TimGinCentralNJ wrote:No kidding?? I'm guessing by the fact you're using your iPhone5 for navigation that your '08 doesn't have factory nav (?) Mine does have it, but I'm thinking I really need to update my 3-4 year old map data which I'm sure is original.
Thanks!
Tim
Yes, charges too, works exactly the way it did before, only thing is is that the iphone 5 doesn't fit in the console with the tray properly anymore (because it's longer).bpippin wrote:Cyberdeath: Thanks for the update and good news! I will order an iPhone 5 and 30 pin to lightening adapter now. Really love having full control of the phone through the steering wheel and nav screen. Sounds like the 30 pin to lightening adapter will make that happen. I suppose it charges the phone also?
I am in the exact same boat, but for some reason I can't get the stupid thing to work!Teknical wrote:I would like to update you all that the Lighting to 30-pin adapter from Apple works well with my iPhone 5 in my Infiniti (2008). Thanks. I have been reading a G forum on this. Looks like a lot of 2008 folks with the same setup as ours are having problems with the .2m lightning cable but things work with the short adapter. I'll get the same thing and give it a try.Teknical wrote:I've never used spotify on the iPhone. Are you only having problems with that app? Make sure the apps and your iOS version are up to date. I think it's possible that one of your cables or connectors is damaged. I had some problems with the connector on my iPhone 4. It wouldn't work well with other external speakers either.
