iPhone-5 and Infiniti

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I guess this will work http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823 ... in-adapter to connect new iPhones to the car. Right now I have to have a connecter that allows it to charge as well as connect to the media center. Let's hope this new little connector does both jobs!

Nope, won't work. From the page:
Video and iPod Out not supported.

Dang progress!

I am sure there are iPhone experts here... To you I ask, what is the difference in the two options? One is very much smaller with more(?) connectors? What does the new one do that the old one didn't?

I think it will definitely work to play music and navigate the menus to select artists and playlists.

Video never worked directly to the Infiniti, and "iPod Out" is something different than you would expect. That means that the iPod renders all of the menus on the screen (requires video).

This explains what iPod Out is: http://techcrunch.com/2010/07/13/ios-4s ... -party-ui/

I think it will probably support charging too, but we will have to wait and see. If it doesn't, an extra adapter will be needed (like the one I'm currently using from Scosche). http://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/product/1667

Apple updated the connection port because most of the old pins weren't used anymore. The new one is smaller and simpler, which is good for shrinking the phone to new levels of thinness. Furthermore the new connecter is reversible and magnetically secured, so you don't have to fumble around so much with it to get it connected correctly. It's a very welcome change for me.

Although initially rumored to me magnetic, this is not the case. Would have been a great change if it were more like MagSafe, though...

(as) If anyone from Nissan is listening, it would really be nice if they eventually came out with a replacement for the factory cable provided with older ex's. :nono:

The phone isn't meant to work directly with the screen on the 2008. Only on newer models will the album artwork be shown automatically. You can however view video output if you bought a video converter for your iPhone. That output would be connected to the video RCA inputs in your center compartment.
