I got the same kit as Generic as well on ebay and it is pure plug and play (no re-wiring necessary). It was so easy that I am going to buy another set and install them in my fogs.

this may sound like a total noob questions, but since these kits are only low-beam, what happens with the high-beam? Dont headlight bulbs usually have both high and low beams in the same bulb?

High and low beams are controlled with different bulbs in the Altima. It makes the most sense to just change the low beams since the high beams are rarely used. Also in Canada, we have to deal with day-time running lights which uses the high beam bulb so it’s a pain to mess with that.

I would suggest that you start with the low beam and if you like it, do the fogs as well.

well, i finally got my hids for my low beams and fog lights. I went with 6000k for low beams and 5000k for fog lights. I purchased 2 separate wiring harnesses with relays and fuses to isolate the oem wirings and get 12VDC power direct from the battery.

Alot of work (roughly 5 hour process included removing the front bumper ) , but have a piece of mind knowing that it won't burn any oem wirings

my 6000k xentec bulbs work great; however, my 5000k xlight bulbs aren't. one xlight bulb was putting out pure white while the other is like halogen color. Asked generic and the seller, both told me to get give it sometime for breaking in. I'll wait and see.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and was contemplating on installing HID on my altima coupe, I was wondering is there a big difference between 5000k and 6000k HIDs as far as light output will the light start dissipating where it's just blue where you can't tell the cutoff at all. I like the 5000k just fine, but I was thinking of adding a slight tint overlays on the headlights and still have the same light output on the road.

If you're planning to tint your housing, definitely go with the 5000K. Remember, the higher up the K rating you go, the lower output (lumens) light you get. Light output = 5000K > 6000K

generic did you mean "light output= 5000K<4000K" as in light output for 5000K is less than 4000K?

My bad. I meant 5000K > 6000K not 4000K

Thx to this post

I was able to install HID on my own. On the driver side I took the tire off but on the passanger side.....I was too lazy to get the tire off but there still some space so I was able to finish with tire attach to it

Very nice write up-my 5000k's came in last night and I just installed them using the above directions. I did not take the tires off, so it took me a bit longer but they are in and everything is buttoned up fine.

One thing-the CEL came on a little bit after install. I remember seeing somethign about this so I will search a bit more as to why and update this post when I find it. For now I just disconnected the neg terminal again to see if it was just a one-time thing.

Thanks Generic.

Update: so to stop the CEL from coming on, you must reset the auto window feature the FIRST time you start the car after disconnecting the battery. Haven't had an issue since. If you turnt he car off and start again, the CEL will trip.

Mine didn't have relays-it was plug and play-the new harness clipped right into the stock harness, no extra wires.

How important is it to have the relay harness? My kit came with one but it didnt come with any instructions. I dont want to have to rip my car apart again if its not a big deal.

ok, so i just put some HIDs on my 08 Altima sedan 2.5S, however when i was installing them i ran into a problem, The kit came with a relay but no instructions for the relay. So i tried to figure out how to do it with out them but that didnt work to well there is to many different wires coming out of it. So, how important is it to have a relay. Do i really need it? I would think that I do but I dont really want to take it apart again. If I do need it i guess ill buy the high beams too and do it all in one wack again. I tried to contact the company for a shematic or some instructions but of course they wont comply. XenonUS is the company. I love the lights but they dont include very good instructions.....I would appreciate some thoughts...

thanks Guys

If i already had xenons then i wouldn't go through all the mess of changing them to an aftermarket HID, but thats just me, i pulled up to an altima 3.5 with stock xenon and i couldnt tell the difference from mine and theirs and about the foglights, yea i would put the HIDs on them, but i havent installed them on mine yet b/c it didnt come with fog lights and i just havnt took the time to wire some up, search ebay for good foglights they are good links there.

This looks like the same set up as i had, and if yours is like mine the instructions suck!! Im not no expert on this so i may be wrong but i think that the other cable is for a relay... I couldnt really figure out on my kit the best way to hook up the relay for them so i just ran them without the relay. It works, it has worked for about four months now, no problems. Just hook up your power wire and your box and test it out and see if it works. that worked for me. I still dont have what looks to be the "extra wire" hooked up. I guess do this at your own risk. its a little bit of work to get in there to this stuff so try to figure out what you want to do before you get in there. If you plan on running the relay then you would prob want to take the front bumper off. if not then def go thru the wheel well.just my opinion and im no expert but it worked for me.
