Well guys I finally had the chance to post this pics of the install. Why do this mod? Well I don't want to have this type of problems =>http://www.carcomplaints.com/H...shtml

This is the fourth car I done this mod to and frankly I think is well worth it.If you get a damage condensor, the repair can cost you lots of money, besides, I like the look of it.

Honestly, it is a quick mod. I should take you no more than two hours. If you are afraid to do this mod, you can always get together with a fellow member. By the drinks, food, watch him/her do the work while you take pictures

If you have questions, feel free to ask.

This is the diagram and it was helpful

8 top clips need to be removed

This part is hold only by internal clips, meaning, just pull it and it will come out. I tried not to used a screw driver since it may scratch the paint.

This is a bottom pic. I believe there are siv clips in the center area and three screws like this one (star tip) three in each side.

In this pic is screw #2 from th ediagram and just below torwards the left you'll find a clip that needs to be removed as well. Just pull the panel(flexible) and access screw #2. P. S. This pic is side ways, turn it to the rigth, this pic is from the front driver's side.

Fog lights need to be dissconect

WTF? Don't let this pic intimidate you!

Bumper

I also wanted to do the bottom parts. I was thinking about getting fog lights but I choosed not to, too much IMO. Intead I went with the plan

Almost done my friends. THE SUSPENSE, I CAN'T HARDLY WAIT...

I agree 100%, this is essential, very functional and improves the look too. I did this shortly after buying my Rogue, but I used flexible black "gutter guard" from Home Depot, and I didn't remove the bumper. It was a little awkward installing the mesh with the bumper still on, but not a big deal and it took less than 1 hour. Either way, and very good idea and I just can't understand the complete STUPIDITY of Nissan choosing to leave gaping holes like this in front of the radiator, I think this is complete disregard for the customer in order to save a few bucks. All it takes is a $5 roll of plastic mesh to protect an expensive vehicle from expensive damage not to mention you would be instantly stranded if a rock punctured your radiator....I just can't get over that, but the good news is that its easy to do.

Here is the link to the original thread on this, lots of pics too: zer...age=1

Thanks for posting all the pics!

Well, Honda does it too.Accords, Element, Oddysseys.I agree with you and I think they should change the design.

You can't go wrong either way.I frefer the hard grill since there is trucks in the hwys in my area and some times we get big rocks on the road.

Well, just go for it and let us know the results.

Are this thing will work good for this job?

Several of us started doing the black 'gutter guard mesh' way back last year:

Your silver mesh version is a different take. It looks good on lighter color vehicles.

The downside (just my opinion), it reminds of the 'rice boy' grille mesh seen on far too many cars.

Yes... at least that's what I used... although I used a much smaller version (easier to control). It's a little tricky getting it into some tight spots but it works well. The key is to buying the "correct" glue stick for the job. I used GF 260 High Strength Glue Stick. Its advertised as the strongest hot melt available and is formulated to work with plastics (important since the Rogue grille and gutter guard if used are both plastic) That said, other manufacturers also make glue sticks specifically for plastic so just make sure you get the right glue or the screens might pop off ... and you'll have to do it all over again.

Ok so I have been chewing on this, the zip ties thing while it looks fine has me a little hung up. Debris will get in there and scratch things up, I can't think of a way around that. So the next question is: what adhesives will work? I have considered double stick 3M, gorilla glue, and the glue guns shown. I would be interested in a conversation about what adhesives would be best. Any thoughts?

I done this mod to at least three other vehicles, incluiding my other ride, 04' Accord V6 Coupe(Silver color) and no problems at all.

This material is hard enougth to stop at 1" piece of debris hitting it @ 65MPH, I had tested on my Honda E. It got a big dent but nothing else.I am sure it would gone thru the plastic mesh, but then again just my opinion.I seen a picture of a damaged condensor in the past to an Accord and the piece of debris was about 1/2" size.

If you see the install you'll see that I also did the bottom parts. No way to use zip ties there. I use this

Useful mod. I am planning to do on mine. Looked at both Home Depot and Lowes. Found the black Gutter Guard (like the other thread), but can't seem to find a silver mesh like Silver boy...Any idea?

Thats a metal one right?

I did mine from the front without removing the bumper: It looks OK but probably not as good as the ones shown above. You really need to put your face against the bumper to see the small imperfections.

If, in the future, I will have to remove the bumper, I will take the opportunity to clean up the work a bit.

Well just got call back from dealer, rogue was overheating, looks like radiator took a rock ~500 for aftermarket part ~700 for factory. *face palm* just sucks... Guess who is going to home depot...

Wow, that's horrible!! It should be covered under warranty though, especially since you have a 2010..

This was the FIRST mod I ever did when I got my new Rogue back in the day. So I can avoid this exact damage. But I never covered the 4 openings at the bottom because it would be a pain in the butt to do so. I only did the upper openings and even behind the grill since I could.

Seeing the radiator so naked and exposed was really something I was never use too seeing.

Fortunately my bullbar covers the 4 openings on the bottom pretty well. :dblthumb:

I didn't remove my bumper, just used my small hands to get it done and alot of contorting and bending.
Seriously, you don't really notice the tie downs unless you really really look. :bowrofl:

A simple mod, but very effective. And it looks much better, too.

I agree totally, this should be standard from the factory but since it isn't I consider this a good candidate for a "must have DIY".

I also did not remove the bumper, it was quite an easy project although a little frustrating at times, if you have a friend help you that might be a good idea too, 4 hands could get it placed and stretched out seamlessly in roughly 15 minutes. And there's really no risk, if for some reason you aren't happy with the job afterwards just snip the ties and pull it off...in my case I think this functional improvement also improved the look of the car.

This is awesome! Thanks for the post. I did this mod on my Corolla before. The first thing I thought of when I picked up my Rogue a few weeks ago was this mod for it :)
