badbob-yea it bothers me too. but if paying a mechanic to get it running is what it take to get me out of my dad's 12mpg tundra, then Ill have to live with it

grilled- That's the only problem, no one around here deals with this engine. The few people here with an sr either bought the car with one or swapped it in themselves. The place Im taking it to specializes in imports though. I know one of the guys there and they seem to do good work. I figured just in case I could give them a disc with the fsm and all the files I have about the engine to help them out if they need it.

and 600 is an awesome deal. I really only need the paint to last 4-5 years. Once Im done with college and have a good job locked in, Im going to buy a new car and completely strip this car down. At that point I might decide to go with a new color, idk. I figured id save about 1200 for paint. One of my friend's dad paints cars, so Ill go see what he'll charge

I see, Well I hope they are able to find the problem, I know your ready to drive it. 1200 should net you a pretty good paintjob. It does around here at least. That is providing you disassemble everything yourself, which I would recommend anyway.

And damn dude that sucks your dad threw your diff away! I actually have bought 2 j30 diffs myself. 1 was rusted up and the 2nd was mint haha. Live and learn I guess

Keep us posted!

Im still preparing the car for the shop. Got the gauges wired, but I found out last night I have a short in my illumination wire for my lights which prevents them from turning amber when I turn the headlights on. Not a big enough deal to worry about right now.

Still have to connect 2 wires to the ignition for the turbo timer/boost controller. One is supposed to go to the body side and the other goes to the switch side, according to the instruction booklet. Anyone know which wires these are

I got a new thermostatic switch for my altima fans as the probe broke off the other one. Before I had it mounted behind the passenger headlight:

I decided to change that up a little

I had forgotten the sr's coolant inlet was on the opposite side, or I probably would have mounted the controller on the drivers side. Oh well

It seems that one of the causes is that the fuel injectors aren't getting a pulse..

Hoff,

I live fairly close to you, if you like to stop by with your harness next week (before taking your car to the mechanic) , I will be more than happy to go over your harness to verify accuracy of connections, etc. I just gone done with my S15 sr swap and have tons of notes and right test equipment to do this. I wished I seen you were having problems earlier, I just dont get as much internet time like I used to. You have a wiring problem. The alternator incident might be related.

It's already at the mechanic. The reason Im leaning away from the wiring is because it ran before. I didn't rewire anything, I just unplugged the ecu, and that night I plugged it back in and since then I've gotten nothing but the motor turning over. Either way, the other day I was reinstalling the harness after I finished sleeving it and 3 wires broke from their plugs, and I realized that these wires are extremely old and brittle, so soon ill be ordering a new converted harness from wiring specialties

Check your PM for details. Mechanics around here are mostly used to work in trucks, swamp boats,etc...LOL
Maybe you can find one that can identify if you are missing one of the basics like: gas, spark, etc. But I will be more than happy to help....

Amolao- I really aprreciate the offer man. I ordered a new CAS today and if that doesn't fix the problem then Ill order an ecu. If THAT doesn't fix the problem, well then obviously its wiring. As stated before, I am going to eventually buy a whole new harness, so that will be next if need be. Either way, I'd love to meet up just to see your car. There aren't many 240s around this area, or atleast not many that I've seen. Maybe even a small meet/bbq for s-chassis/nissan owners? Who knows

On another note, Im sitting here looking at pictures of my car. I like the way it looks and everything, but it seems kind of....plain. I've never been one for body kits or anything crazy like that. I like simple. Im thinking Navan front bumper, kouki skirts, and JDm kouki rear bumper with valences. What do ya'll think? From what I've seen, this combination looks pretty good. I would of course need new wheels to set this off right, but those will have to come during the spring. Hmm, Ill have to think about this more during class tomorrow.....

Z track wheels ftw though! lol. I think the navan skirts and valences alone would make you happy. My car looked kinda goofy before I got mine on. But your plans sound nice as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Z wheels. I almost settled with g35 wheels, But I had wanted the tracks since I bought the car. I just think with the combo I want a better offset would look great. We'll see what happens though. The only downside is the pricing on everything. Im looking at about 3-400 for the front bumper, 200 for skirts, 200 for rear bumper, and 100-200 for valences. I wish someone made a good quality replica of these pieces. Maybe one day

Him-"Please don't tell me that. Call Steve right now. "
Me-"He didn't answer. Is it something more serious?"
Him-"It runs"
Me-".....I have an erectlon right now"

Cool!
On the aero, just get full navan aero. That way you wont have to buy a rear bumper.

SHE RUNS!!! I got to drive it around in a circle. It turned out that the fuel injector on cylinder 3 was stuck open, there was a break in a few places on the harness, and grounding was another issue. Im picking her up tonight, fixing the grounding, and hooking up the tach and speed sensor. She starts up and idles perfectly

SHE'S BACK ON THE ROAD!!!

The first time I heard the BOV it was....arousing to say the least.

I drove home with no tach and speedo, and no radiator/clutch fans, but the temps never rose above 1/3. Ill start working on the kinks and also get a video for you guys.

Amolao-Yea Im using the ka compressor, but Im not using the one from the sr

Well I shot a short video earlier, but its taking forever to upload, so im going to just make a new one tomorrow. The car is driving great, just need to work a few things out.

I had a little mishap earlier. I pushed it kinda hard through 1st and 2nd, and then POP! And my car started bogging down and then shot off. It extremely crappy all the way home and would shut off if I put it in neutral. I pop my hood expecting a blown turbo or something major, and I find that the cold pipe has popped off of the intake manifold. So I put it back on, made sure it was secure, and started it. It runs fine now so i don't think anything got messed up.

So far Im extremely happy. It pulls hard, even though I haven't really pushed it hard since I don't know what rpm its at. Ill take some pictures tomorrow after I wash her!

yea it was worth it, although I found a nice dent in my quarter panel new the corner light. It looks like someone was eaning against it and their knee went into it pretty good :/

Im leaking a crap ton of coolant from under the intake mani, right on the other side of the coolant temp sensor. I'm waiting on the engine to cool off as Ive already burned myself 4 times. Lol.

I tried shooting a video but the camera mount I have kept falling, so Im waiting on the battery for my smaller and lighter sony to charge

So Ive had some interesting problems today.Had the coolant leak, but that stopped and hasnt leaked since. I was sitting in traffic and heard a pop and the temps rose.Turns out one of the small coolant hose bust, had to fix that in a walmart parking lot.And just a little while ago I was driving and the temps started rising,so I pulled over, popped the hood, and couldnt see any more water leaking from anywhere,so we went and ate, bought some water, and walked back to the car. Popped the radiator cap off thinking it must be low,and its about full.I drove it home and had absolutely no problems. temp gauge stayed at 1/3 the whole way.

WTF

Looks like it has air pockets still in the coolant system, keep some coolant with you/keep checking the level and refilling if needed until they go away eventually.

PS. let me know about stopping by to get the compressor...

Looks like I have way bigger problems than air pockets

I was driving to school and as I pulled into the parking lot the car just shut off.I had to coast it into a spot. I think the Ecu isn't getting power because the CEL isn't on and the fuel pump doesn't prime. I checked fuses and plugs and its all good which means.it has to be wiring so I'm about to use my paint money to buy a wiring specialties harness

Sorry to hear that, if the CEL is not coming on and you have battery power and ign lights, then your ECU is missing power or a ground. There is a slight chance that it might also be damaged. THe CEL comes on during the begining of the diagnostics and powerup cycle of the ECU. Double check all fuses, cabin and engine compartment ones.
