Gas in Oil

Gas in Oil

Postby J240sx » Mon Apr 16, 2012 5:05 am

Recently finished a rebuild on my sr and on start up there is a strong gas smell, and white smoke from the exhaust. I changed my oil yesterday and there was a lot of gas in it. I am going to check my injectors today to see if they are leaking, if not I am going to assume its a problem with my piston rings. Is there any other things I should be looking at to see if that is the cause of the problem? Perhaps the maf, 02 sensor, or coolant temp sensor? The screw on my ecu is damaged so I am unable to pull codes, I am going to look for a new one.

Rebuild consisted of new pistons, rods, and bearings. Everything else is stock, besides Fmic and exhaust. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you replace the rings during the build? I had the same problem, I burned up my rings from running too rich. Do a compression test and a leak down test. That will confirm if it's your rings.

It's rare for rings to cause fuel in the oil unless there is very very low compression. 9 times out of 10 it's gonna be a leaky injector somewhere along the line.

You are correct, it was a bad injector. Now if you want to help with my current problem you can find it in this thread.. ( starter-clicking-t558320.html ) The car was running but now when I try to start it I can only hear the the relay under the hood click.
