1) Remove upper strut bolts as shown in the picture below. Consider replacing rubber bumper and insulator components. There is a rubber bushing under black cap in this picture.

2) Remove the lower mounting bolt. The strut and spring can be easily removed at this point.

3) The spring compression tool was borrowed (deposit refund option) from Advance Auto Parts. Many auto parts stores provide coil spring compression kits as a rental or a loaner with security deposit.

4) Plan to replace dust boots (and other rubber components) during installation. I found OEM replacements fit perfectly. The ½ inch I.D. poly-braded tubing replaced the original plastic insulators that crumbled during removal. I coated the spring with some dielectric grease and used a heat gun to warm the tubing so it would slide into place. Installing the poly tubing was the hardest part of this job.
