Hey folks,

Do we have any members within reasonable distance of Las Vegas? Tollboothwilley and I need your help as a test fitter/test car.

Tollboothwilley makes some SWEET under trays (among other things) and I would like to get a model made for the M37/M56. I had one on my M35 and it was glorious (it's for sale in the M35 section now - see my picture below).

Benefits:
  • Stronger than the OEM plastic
  • Looks great
  • Oil door for quick and easy oil changes
  • Doesn't sag
Cons:

None

Here is a thread on the M35/M45 forum on what the tray is, etc: Aluminum Engine Under Tray

Nice! Sounds good. Sucks you have an M37 though, I need someone with the V8 to go see TBW so he can make me a shield :naughty: :gapteeth:

In case you haven't seen the other thread, his username is tollboothwilley. I have alerted him to this thread as well.

Also, InsaneX, please update your location profile. Thanks ;)

Oh, yeah not too far away. Probably about 15 min. I can bring tools and come over that way some time if that works for you (depending on your schedule of course)

It would be awesome if one could be made for the Aero bumper as well. :yesnod

TBW, didn't I see somewhere that you also made aluminum splitters? I can't seem to find them on your website.

Yes I have made a few. Don't have on website because I don't actively sell them. I only have one left in fact, for the G35

Hey Frog.

Thanks for the offer, but I shipped him my M56 stock under tray so we're good in that regard. However...he may need the car to fab up the doors on the shield...since unlike the M35 I had previously...the drain bolt is in another location compared to the filter (need two doors instead of one). If he does need that, he'd probably just need the car for a few minutes one time I'm guessing to measure the location of the oil filter in relation to the drain bolt and any other pertinent markers.

Not a problem man, take all the time you need. Thanks for letting me know it arrived though, surprised no one at FexEx wanted to steal it :P.

Whenever you get to it hah.

I need to get TBW some more measurements. He's already mocked up a design in CAD. Will hopefully be able to do that this saturday.

Info is I'll test this shield on my car, if it fits, TBW will put it into production. If it doesn't, we'll make the necessary alterations and go from there. I helped him get one made for the Y50 M35, and hopefully can get one just perfect for the Y51 M56.

Ah i see, still in pre-production testing. I thought it was ready to go and I had missed a purchase thread somewhere. Looking forward to updates. :dblthumb:

No, I'll be the first to get my hands on one. I sent TBW my stock shield, so unlike the tests I did with the M35, this will probably be ready to go after the first test as he had a shield to use as a copy. Part of my wishes I didn't ship me stocker, as this winter has been the worst in years and I'm scared to look at the bottom of my engine. I'm sure the salt, snow, and occasional chunk of ice has done a number on the undercarriage... :ohno:

Update. I received the shield from TBW and have tested it. Fit is almost perfect. A few adjustments can be made for ease of use, but otherwise it's great. Here is some before and after pics, lol. TBW will let everyone know when they are ready for purchase:
