I have decided to take some time to seriously go through my 240 and repair all the issues she has. I have moved my car to my friend Mikes house and over-took his man cave in hopes of resurrecting my ride and finishing the build. The plans are for a 19 row oil cooler and filter relocation, repairing all the crap welding that was done prior to me owning the chassis. Fixing my sr's leaking/ consuming oil issues. My friend has built cages for stock cars so we are going to be building and installing a full cage after all the sound deadening is removed.

the car as it sits looks can be decieving

02/06/2010: We built doors out of tarps for the garage to keep us warm first thing this morning. Later at about noon we took her out for her last ride and attracted the attention of some neighbors. It was kind of funny because the 7yr old knew next door came running over to see what we were driving. We then proceeded to remove the front clip, radiator and support, all the inter-cooler piping, the cowling, windshield wiper unit and got the piano wire about half way around the front window before decideing it was time for BEER.

Thanks guys, I bet some of you are wondering why the radiator support was removed. when I purchased this chassis 1yr ago it ha a NA sr, no radiator support just some square stock that was sloppily welded supporting some ghetto rigged tractor radiator. I wanted to run my radiator so I cut out that rad support from my parts car brought it with me and tacked it in place until...today. Removal is necessary to repair the old battery area where the improper gauge steel had been patched in.

Image
Gut less Sr20DE, you can see the tractor radiator and crappy hoses the original owner used. This was the slowest 4cyl I ever had the dis-pleasure of driving :squint:

Today we decided to got to Sabattus lake for some Ice Racin' in Maine. There actually is a good use for civics. We went off the track a couple times (I was filming in the passenger seat) and put my helmet to good use. Power sliding those cars around this coarse was quite fun and almost like drifting. After giving in to the 50mph winds on the lake we decided to start a fire in the shop and completely strip the interior of the car and remove the doors.

The maroon civic has the exhaust fabricated into a push bar in the front so bad@ssSome in car footage

Yes the point is repairing the car. Its going to be a slow process alot of disassembly, and boring stuff that everybody throws into every build thread. I figured I would spice this one up a bit, considering the car has been built already, raced for a season and now can use some perfecting. I hope everyone has fun watching the random videos along with the evolution of this project.

Well yesterday was a pretty busy day working on the car. I finished stripping the interior of everything, removed all the wiring harnesses...found a BUNCH of rust in the floors and on my passenger frame rail that was hidden by a craptastic patch job...all a pretty easy fix just need some 10 gauge for the rails. After removing the rusted section of the rail, I poked around on the inner rail. Which is still solid, so all I will need is to mix up some rust bullet to stop the rusting process.

A little liquid courage encouraged us to come up with this contraption to pull the motor( come along chained to the roof of his garage..we had to slide the assembly forward after the first attempt. We were a little aggressive with the angle and almost took down the roof. It worked real good after repositioning.

Tonight I separated the Transmission from the motor...let me tell you about the $65 ebay clutch disk that out performed my Name brand unit, best freaking money spent ever. The disk had barely even worn AT ALL...F1racing disk w/ a ATC pressure plate. Now my upper oil pan is seeping from the backside AGAIN grrrrrrrrr and the other oil leak is my lower ARC oil cooler unit, I'm just going to Heli-coil all this s*** so I do not have these issues again..I also took my old Megan tubular manifold and tossed it for a OEM unit so no more cracking manifold for me.

Its been a bit since I updated this project, but I have been busy looking for a job, and working on other projects. The car has been completely gutted and de-greased, I removed the fuel tank and started stitch welding the engine compartment. I will be making a big push to get this completed by June2010. This week I ordered the following parts: Energy suspension Master set, Isis braided Auto-conversion clutch line,Intake and exhaust seals,16x8 0 offset xxr 522's to get me through the year, Circuit sports Aluminum Coolant reservoir and a12 row oil cooler and relocation kit. Work should be picking up again this weekend, I'm still hunting for a great condition pig nose bumper and right side fender.....stay tuned

I hate the term Mancave. It just sounds a bit ****. That looks like lot's of fun though. I plan to buy a truck and put my car away to redo a whole new restoration too.

Went to the shop this weekend and removed the front sub frame, and started drilling out the drivers side frame rail spot welds. I ended up taking my power-brace home because I realized the original builder only went 50% around with the welds, so I cleaned it up re welded the cruddy areas, degreased it and painted it. I am planning on boxing in the bottom of it tomorrow, so it isn't quite finished.

Did some more work today. Removed front coil over for cleaning, and degreased the front sub frame, and rack. I pressed out the old front tension rod bushings, cleaned and painted the rods, then pressed in new Energy bushings.

Another productive day, I burnt out the front lower control arm bushings, disassembled the front subframe, cleaned and painted everything including all hardware. I also installed new MOOG sway bar end links, ball joints and a re manufactured power steering rack. The complete Energy suspension kit has now been installed in the front.

Been to busy to work on the 89 coupe, it needs alot of attention underneath. Instead I decided to buy this 93 coupe, 123000 miles, 100% rust free, KA-T/T25, SR injectors with some goodies. The plans are to drive it for now with the KA-T, and finish re-furbishing my SR so I can hit 400whp on pump gas.....on to the pictures
So far I have installed my Tein coilovers in the front, the new rims with 215/40/16 hankook HRII rubber, my MOMO steering wheel, and my walbro, old school skirts. I found some wicked tie-rods already installed. The car has some sort of LSD already, a brand new RSR exhaust.
Today I installed a new shifter and center garnish in the interior with weighted Tenzo-r shift knob, my Sparco seat new tripple gauge on the pillar and center vent with autometer gauges, Oil, boost, AFR, EGT, voltage and temp. Tomorrow I will be installing my 1 piece drive shaft, energy suspension kit in the front.....should be fun.

KA-T that is in the 93.
