First of all do not flame on me. I searched and i found some info. But i still have a question.I was wondering if anyone done this, and can give me any input.I bought the LSD and both axles from a93 J30.My questions is, apart from the extra length on the LSD due to the ABS sensor, and the diff bushings.Do i need to convert my rear to 5 lugs, or would the J30 axles work with my 4 lug spindles or hubs whatever u call them? Thanks in advance..

You might have issues putting a ABS VLSD in a Non ABS car. Its something to do with the length of the ABS diff. Your driveshaft will fit extra tight , wich isnt good , and it will wear on your trans. People should really stop buying these ABS VLSD's unless they have the $ to get a 1 piece custom driveshaft made.

You do not have to convert your 4 lug to 5.

Great! Thanks for clearing that out slappy. The websites i found do not mention anything about the need for an ABS drive shaft, it just says it might fit snug but my old mount should extend. My transmission mount is relatively new about 6 months old and is a nismo. So will see if it fits. I need a good drive shaft anyways mine seems to be bent a lil bit, when i bought my car the transmission mount was totally trashed, and the drive shaft had so much play that it touched the chassis.. One of the bolts that connects the drive shaft to the transmission broke. I replaced it, but i still get some vibration on the shift knob, at certain RPMS even in neutral.

My question is, will a drive shaft from a 240sx with ABS will work fine.( The only problem will be finding one at the junkyards)Or do i have to get a one piece costume drive shaft. The only reason y i don't wanna get one is cause i still don't make up my mind, which engine i wanna swap. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Well , if its shorter by a hair i guess i would work , but i would call some shops or do some more research because i never messed with ABS diffs.

You will have to use the 240 rear cover on the j30 diff.

How does the extra length wear the transmission out faster? When I put mine in, I was able to slide the driveshaft into the transmission far enough to get the driveshaft to bolt to the diff. I could of even fit a diff with nose that was a inch longer. All that is happeing is that you are sliding the splines farther into the transmission. This should not damage anything, or am I wrong?

I asked this question a long time ago and never got a response.

did the same swap on a '91. Had a one-piece driveshaft made $195.00. Always check the U-joints. They are not replaceable. Must buy new shaft ergo get a one-piece. Use energy suspension poly mounts from a 300zx for the J30 VLSD++smooth sailing

Thanks for the input guys.. I did the conversion last week, didn't have any clearance issues..I still get vibration on the drive train but that's going to be my driveshaft. I am just going to get another one from the junkyard tomorrow..Leo where did you get ur driveshaft from? and the poly bushings, i can't seem to find those.

Oh and yeah i lost the axle bolts for the J30 diff so i am using the stock ones ( they're smaller) and the axles have a slight play. SO i am taking it easy.. Tomorrow id look for the j30 bolts at the junkyard hopefully i can find them.

driveshaft specialist in Irwindale CA. 626-3342418. I took all my old stuff and told him to make a nesshaft that would be 3/4 inch shorter to accomidate theabs length Go to the bone yard and take the bolts offanother J30, Q45 or a 300zx. The energy suspensionkit was available from "The Nismo Shop" in West CovinaCA. They are on the web. Price is about $26.00. Youmust use the old bolts and washers or the geometrywill be off. Let me know if you need anything else.

Look for the 95-96 Infinity J30 LSD they have the same star pattern on the axles as the 240s..The only problem is that they're really hard to come by at the junkyard. But if you're lucky and u do find one, then by all means go for it.

Oh and yeah thanks for your help LEO you been very helpfull! I really apreciate it bro!
