Then a couple days after the manifolds get to me ill be expecting my blitz boost controller, new oem knock sensor, and new oem set of radiator hoses and hopefully the heads and motor somewhere in between that time frame..

It's kinda like after you throw in coilovers, and you park with your wheels turned so you can glimpse them a little as you walk off

Safety gear dude! believe me, partially loosing sight in one eye because of a damn spark from grinding is the worst feeling ever cause you wont get that partial sight back and putting on safety glasses takes .2 seconds. Kevlar gloves are a good idea too.

Mark, look into getting an ati damper as you increase your power levels.
i sold my UR pulleys and got an ati damper instead, you don't want crank vibrations and harmonics, etc.

Greg said it will be fine he said that he does it on many cars.. He said the reason why the vg is alright with a solid pulley is because, the crank is so short also because nissan has a very specific bearing spec.

Im running std. bearings 88mm bore

I was thinking the same thing when looking at those pictures. All it takes is once and the eye is forever damaged.

Besides eye equipment makes you look professional to the eyes of many.

Anyways look like you are making progress. :dblthumb:

Vibration is seen on all V-6 engines, all are considered unbalanced. Both first order and second order vibrations are seen and counter balance is needed. Because there are 3 cylinders per bank, odd number of cylinders the engine experiences primary dynamic imbalance. V-6 engine are designed a close to balance a possible, but the remaining imbalances are expected to be absorbed into the dampener and motor mounts.

Length has nothing to do with vibrations. V-8's are smoother than V-6's, even cylinders each bank vs odd number. And inline 6's are champion of vibration smoothness, but each opposing cylinder mirrors each other in motion, thus canceling each others vibrations.

Yea I have the glasses now but.. About this vibration talk, Greg said it would be fine there are alot of ppl running this setup and they dont see any abnormal problems that the solid pulley causes... He said he runs it in his 280zx and he beats the hell out of it haha.. No issues.. So im just going to keep her!

I am not going to worry about going with solid pulley, I love my pulley!!!

Mark, You know as well as I do the the L28 was an I6. I6's are far more balanced than a V6. That being said, the VG was, and still is praised, as being one of the most balanced V6's of all time.

However I may get one later down the line... But for now its fine I still have a number of things to get.

Such as:
OEM Thermostat
SZ oil pan
SZ 3inch Exhaust Oval tip
SZ 3 inch Test pipes

There is more that i am not thinking about..
Also i still need supplies like cleaning supplies to clean the engine bay..

makes sense as bmw inline-sixes are pretty smooth, but why are harmonic dampeners recommended more for inline-sixes than for v6's?

The question the brings everything home of why we need harmonic dampers. Ever seen those opera singers that have a pitch that can shatter wine glasses? It isn't the engine smoothness felt by the driver, but internal vibrations within the crank. The crank is the problem itself. There have been many cases that the crankshaft breaks when ran without an dampener. I will have to correct myself, with V-6 there is more than length that vibrations occur. Length has a role in natural frequency.

Fluid dampeners can absorb a wide range of vibrations, while solid/rubber can only absorb a narrow range of vibrations.

Most 60 degree V-6's are praised for their minimized unbalance-ness. :chuckle:

Fine. Keep your shiny crank pulley!

I never frowned on it. Like I said above, does about same job as stock rubber one anyways.

I myself always find myself needing fluid dampers. I am very hard on my motors. :chuckle:
