Oh yea ha. Should be soon im hoping to get my motor back sometime by the end of this week.. Highly unlikely though..McShanks wrote:Yes, much MUCH better to have it done right the first time.
Keep it up, good luck!

It's kinda like after you throw in coilovers, and you park with your wheels turned so you can glimpse them a little as you walk off

vulcanrush wrote:Mark, look into getting an ati damper as you increase your power levels.
i sold my UR pulleys and got an ati damper instead, you don't want crank vibrations and harmonics, etc.
LOL thats the type of s*** you pm haha delete this plz tony or aaron.z32pilot62 wrote:So whats the price on the complete drivers side Intercooler setup? Im in need of all pipes and the IC...
I was thinking the same thing when looking at those pictures. All it takes is once and the eye is forever damaged.NolimitZ32 wrote:Safety gear dude! believe me, partially loosing sight in one eye because of a damn spark from grinding is the worst feeling ever cause you wont get that partial sight back and putting on safety glasses takes .2 seconds. Kevlar gloves are a good idea too.

Besides eye equipment makes you look professional to the eyes of many.
Anyways look like you are making progress.
Vibration is seen on all V-6 engines, all are considered unbalanced. Both first order and second order vibrations are seen and counter balance is needed. Because there are 3 cylinders per bank, odd number of cylinders the engine experiences primary dynamic imbalance. V-6 engine are designed a close to balance a possible, but the remaining imbalances are expected to be absorbed into the dampener and motor mounts.
Length has nothing to do with vibrations. V-8's are smoother than V-6's, even cylinders each bank vs odd number. And inline 6's are champion of vibration smoothness, but each opposing cylinder mirrors each other in motion, thus canceling each others vibrations.
Yea Aaron i know the 280z came with an l6 haha.. But greg put a vg30dett into his 280zAce2cool wrote:Mark, You know as well as I do the the L28 was an I6. I6's are far more balanced than a V6. That being said, the VG was, and still is praised, as being one of the most balanced V6's of all time.
makes sense as bmw inline-sixes are pretty smooth, but why are harmonic dampeners recommended more for inline-sixes than for v6's?raremotive wrote:

The question the brings everything home of why we need harmonic dampers. Ever seen those opera singers that have a pitch that can shatter wine glasses? It isn't the engine smoothness felt by the driver, but internal vibrations within the crank. The crank is the problem itself. There have been many cases that the crankshaft breaks when ran without an dampener. I will have to correct myself, with V-6 there is more than length that vibrations occur. Length has a role in natural frequency.vulcanrush wrote: makes sense as bmw inline-sixes are pretty smooth, but why are harmonic dampeners recommended more for inline-sixes than for v6's?
Most 60 degree V-6's are praised for their minimized unbalance-ness.Ace2cool wrote:Mark, You know as well as I do the the L28 was an I6. I6's are far more balanced than a V6. That being said, the VG was, and still is praised, as being one of the most balanced V6's of all time.
Fine. Keep your shiny crank pulley!300ZXttZMAN wrote:Yall greg has personally installed many.. There is nothing wrong with them for our motors...
Um, yeah, did not know that. And rare, lol. You know what I'm saying.300ZXttZMAN wrote:Yea Aaron i know the 280z came with an l6 haha..
