06-07 M35 Which Y-Pipes Work?

Hey guys. I've been scouring through this forum in search of which y-pipes will fit a 2007 Infiniti M35 Sport RWD. There seem to be a lot of suggestions but I couldn't find any clear list of parts that might cross-reference to another Infiniti model (i.e. 06 G35 y-pipe fitting 07 M35?). Can someone familiar with the fittings of these y-pipes compile a list of parts and brands that would fit onto RWD and possibly even AWD M models? I think it would benefit the forum greatly. Just a suggestion but if someone does take their time to do this, thanks in advance!!!

First, I noticed that your car description indicates M45...but I'm responding to your M35 inquiry...

for the RWD, any VQ35DE ypipe and some VQ37HR ypipes...you can shop for G35 or G37 specific -- they work on the M35s. A lot of online parts stores do not cross reference the M35 fitment with the G35s since they did not have a large audience from the M's...and the G35s were more abundant (I think starting in 2003) It wasn't until recently that more M35s were being modified -- possibly the G35 owners stepping up to the M and still having their aftermarket parts and trying them on the M's... don't know for sure...

I have a lot of friends with modified G35s and when I picked up my M in 2010, they knew the M35 motor was the same and I began to experiment with other fitment swaps with the G35....

Log on Motordyne Engineering and you will find some intake and exhaust parts that is labeled on the site for both G35 and M35....

You can search my prior posts since I've talked about the many parts that I've obtained which fit directly from the G35s

as far as AWD, I believe the VQ37HR will work due to it's wide angled inlet tubing....

I was just looking at y-pipes that fit these cars, and it looks like the Megan Racing y-pipe looks much different than the other companies. The other companies have a smaller "U" section whereas the Megan ones have a much larger "U" section. Do both fit?

The Megan came out with their Version 2 ypipe (where the shape takes a wider "U" shape, versus their 1st generation ypipe which literally takes the "Y" or "T" shape). Check out my recent post on Megan exhaust parts... I picked up the new version 2 Ypipe...so far, it's provided a lot of low end torque and the flow is much smoother than the stock ypipe. I previously had the old Megan Ypipe and the new version is waaay better

...that's cool though...I'm trying to remember if you ever had "Dexter" as your avatar...?? that was a good show, but no more. Okay, so I'm AWD.

What is the most stock like stainless steel y-pipe? I need the flex sections on mine repaired which I know I could just get done, but I'd rather get the whole pipe if anything. But I don't want the car to be any louder. Any suggestions? The XYZ w/ Resonator pipe from Motordyne?

Thanks, I'll take a look. At work now, but hopefully there are some stainless steel options available so they don't rust as easily.

There are a ton there but I don't know what's good or what will sound normal like it does now. I don't want to make this car any louder.

CPJ LB, any advice? I need as stock a Y-Pipe as possible...but if possible stainless steel. However, I'm at 130kmi, so by the time I need another one...I probably won't even own the car. Might just get a used OEM G37x/M35x pipe and call it a day.

lol, I found new OEM G37 pipes for $350 (as opposed to the $560 the dealer wants for the M one), so I'll likely eventually bite the bullet on that and fix my y-pipe, replace the gaskets, etc. and get the car back to sounding sexy (like it was in this video):

Save your money!!! Buy the used OEM g37 ypipe that I have stored away
I'll take some pix this weekend when I return home... I just need to find a box or wrap and ship it...? I think we can make it happen for less than you were quoted

Just arrived. Y pipe for a g37 will be installed on a m35x

Y pipe for a g37 fits perfectly on an m35x. Had a beluga y pipe installed today. It's nicely built. I did notice that a drone appeared but that may be due to the hfc's in combination with this pipe. Good quality gaskets were included. The 3" outlet bolted right up to the factory flange without leaking issues. There are no noticeable rasps I assume the front inlets bolt up to the factory cats. The flanges appear to be just iron so that may rot away before the 304 does. Time will tell.

Just a quick update. About 1 month ago I purchased and installed fast intentions resonated high flow cats and a beluga racing G37/370z y pipe to factory headers and factory mid pipe back. Since day 1 the sound from idle to 2k has increased very slightly. From 2k till max the sound has become 4 banger ricer like. It's terrible folks. Sounds like someone stuck a kazoo at the end of my mufflers. Bzzzzzz yawn Bzzzzzz yawn Bzzzzzz. The yawn is what it sounds like between shifts. I'll make a YouTube of it and post. During installation everything lined up perfectly. Obviously the y pipe to mid pipe was quite a huge size difference 3" to 2.25" but all flanges lined up perfectly. Gaskets were utilized and tightened to spec. I'm going to assume it's the mid pipe that's giving it that high pitched buzz. Oh and the high flow cats don't clean jack. I was trying to inflate my tires in an underground parking garage while idling and almost passed out from the fumes! I doubt I would pass emissions if they used the sensor in the pipe method. I'll update when I actually perform the test in January.

It might be the size difference from the Ypipe outlet to the midpipe inlet. since having the hi flow cats, you now have more exhaust gases leaving the engine and then being funneled into a smaller diameter -- midpipe (gases vibrating the inlet flange) and eventually down into the smaller diameter muffler inlet tubing (which can cause decreased flow rate). Maybe try and modify approx first 6 inches of the stock midpipe (inlet) to have a 3" diameter inlet flange and reduce down to the stock midpipe tubing size.

if you and I lived close, I'd let you try on my Megan Midpipe so you can hear/feel the difference in sound and flow. I'm currently running the stock M mufflers, but I modified the inlet tubing to match 2.5". I switch back and forth from removing the Megan mufflers...

As far as the fumes associated with hi flow cats, the only remedy that I found to be helpful was having the Motordyne ypipe (xyz pipe) with the hi flow cat module. When I had that set up (BERK HFC's and Motordyne ypipe w/HFC module) I could barely smell any fumes and that specific set up helped tone down the volume from having HFC's. Unfortunately, I don't believe Motordyne makes their ypipe to fit the AWD's.... it's been awhile since I checked their site.

Yeah I think you may be right CPJ. It's quite the difference. Would you be willing to sell your midpipe?

The xyz pipe won't work AWDs have that fat transaxle in the way. This sucks because I hate when I am stuck driving behind people like me now I'm the one polluting! I may change to the standard ceramic double cats in the future.

What was causing the rice burner sound on your car? I definitely would hate that sound coming from my car. I still have not installed the Megan Cat Back. I do have intentions on getting the G37 Y-Pipe and HFC's. Did you notice a difference in torque and HP after installing everything?
