I gave up on the 370z wheels... I'm just going to stick with getting some XXRs.. Appreciate it, though Zach. How soon you moving?

What you want to use is a product called KBS tank seal. I used it on my S13 tank years ago & did a great job on the rust, plus it comes with epoxy for the outside also.

I got more of the tar crap out of the car and cleaned the garage up nice, but I don't have any pictures. I'm in the middle of a move, so other things have taken a temporary priority. I'll def. keep y'all posted when I have fresh pictures, etc.

I used a Northern kit I bought from summit racing and it had a decent liner etc, but the rust itself I'm afraid to coat over and have any durability. It just seems that no matter what I throw at it, there is still loose rust on the walls of the tank. I'll probably run through the cleaning again or have it dipped if there is such a place nearby... then I'll line it and see how it holds up; I might even line it again after the initial lining.

I thought I'd upload a few pictures to keep you guys interested. I have been spending a lot of time getting this tar s*** out of my floorboards and it's already begun to annoy me. On the plus side, I'm getting close to having it all out! I also sanded the high build primer down and am prepping to paint it with the high build again. After the last high build will be my final coat!!!

I also took a few pics of the motor with a couple pieces put on. She so sexy! :yesnod

Good job so far... I like where the cars going.

Quick question: where did you get the 300zx caliper rebuild kits... specifically the one with the rear caliper hex bolts? I cannot find those anywhere.

I actually only got rebuild kits for the front calipers. I think Summit has what you're looking for though.

Great thread and build man. Definitely learning a few things and I am thinking about swooping that powder coating kit from HFT sometime, it's on sale and it's looking like a deal after seeing your powder coated parts. Goodluck! Will continue to check up on this.

That powdercoater kit is decent for what I've used it for; if you plan to be more actively powdercoating, I highly recommend a better kit. Keep checking back, I try to update on the regular.

I'm updating it as I go. So my last post was earlier in the week and everything is about the same as it was in my post. I'm moving to NoVa, so there will be a few weeks here and there where I don't have an update, but I'll keep the thread alive. As far as the ball joints, the Sentra ones are the only ones I could get my hands on that fit. OEM the ball joints only come in the control arm, but a friend of mine in MD said he found the 240sx fit ones made by Moog - can't confirm.

The only money wasted is when I buy something that doesn't work. I bargain hunt for most things, utilize craigslist and stuff. I've spent hundreds and hundreds less than I would have if I didn't care about the dollar. I'm a regular dude, money is tight.

Back on this topic... you guys would actually be surprised to learn what I've paid for my stuff. I don't just settle, I shop around. My shell was $200, my VH45 was fReE, and I've done ALL of the work myself with a few close friends and family members lending a hand. I sucked it up and spent the money for headers, driveshaft, shifter, fuel pump, etc... I bought some cheaper stuff in other areas where I only need the parts temporarily, eg: E-Motor 16-way Coilovers, Clutch Cartel Clutch/Flywheel. I constantly had to buy tools, so I spent $ for those and borrowed the ridiculous s***. I don't consider tool costs in on the project because I won't have to get them again and I'm a man - we buy tools.

Breakdown:
- Shell - $200 (rust-free, light body damage, no drivetrain)
- Clutch Cartel Clutch/Flywheel - $400 (good reviews, negotiated $50 off) Oddly not in business now... lol
- E-Motor 16-Way Adjustable Coilovers $400 (8k & 6k, shipped red & blue parts - refunded partial)
- Godspeed Alum. Radiator w/ Dual Elec. Fans - $220 (accidentally shipped me two radiators - gave one away)
- Godspeed Suspension Kit - $300 (complete kit without LCAs - negotiated $30-40 off)
- Custom 3" Steel Driveshaft - $400 (Contracted by Mazworx)
- Custom Long-tube Coated Headers - $800 (From Mazworx, negotiated $100 off)
- Machine Shop Work - $600 (Local Shop: Full head work w/ valve job and cleaning, block bath, all tolerances checked, crankshaft balance & polish; includes new rod bearings, new piston rings)
- 300zx Alum. 30mm Calipers w/ rears and MC - $200 - Craigslist (Didn't ship them @ first so I found out little creepy details and threatened him - they arrived 3 days later :rotflmao )
- Full 3" Dual Exhaust w/o mufflers - $130 (bought pipe from Monro and flanges from Mazworx, bending myself)
- Walbro 255 - $90 (from injected performance)
- Ralco RZ Short Throw Shifter - $95
- Drilled/Slotted Rotors - $250
- Custom P/S HP Line - $25 (Custom made at local Napa)
- Complete Gasket Set - $100 (Found 'em on sale)
- 300zx TT Transmission, Q45 Rear Diff, Mazworx Adapter - $500 (Pkg deal from Nico user, machine work already done! Thank you!)
- Axles - $80 for both (Salvaged one, craigslisted another)
- Gorilla Steel Tuner Lugs - $35 (20 ct from Summit)
- Mr. Gasket Stainless Radiator Hoses - $25 (qty:2 from Summit)
- Northern Fuel Tank Liner Kit - $60 (from Summit)
- Flywheel Bolts - $25 (two packs of 6, only need 8; from Summit)
- Replacement Rear Quarter Glass - $75 (from some random guy in Georgia)
- Q45 MAF - $40 (from PyR0NiAk; Thanks!)
- Q45 ECU & Harness - $20 (salvage yard in NC)
- 240sx Hood - $40 (salvage yard in NC)
- Random vacuum/coolant hoses - $30 (Auto Zone)
- S14 Auto/Non-ABS Brake Booster - $45 (Nico member, Thanks!)
- Timing Chain Tensioner - $20 (RockAuto)
- Fuel Injectors - $275 ($395 - $120 core; RockAuto)
- Q45 Oil Filter Adapter - $25 (eBay)
- Urethane Mounts - $100 (Creative Steel; 240sx replacement mounts)
- 300zx Starter - tbd

I'll continue this list, gotta run for now. So far I'm @ $5585.00

A radiator shop can clean the gas tank but it looks pretty bad.

I kind of want to get a cell anyways... Not only does it make running my exhaust easier, but will make some future plans of mine easier too. Thanks for the heads up!
