I recently picked up an 84 z31 n/a and it was running just fine. I was in class and we had an assignment for battery and starter testing. my car was there to work on and one of the kids pulled off the coil wire before i started cranking. we put it back on and now it wont start. I already replaced the ignitor. What else could it be? Thanks

Have you checked to see if your getting fire? Also check you to see if your getting fuel. It could just be a coinsidence and your fuel pump happened to mess up at the same time you were working on the car.

I did check and there was no spark coming from the coil. then i replaced the ignitor and haven't checked for spark again. I'm kind of nervous to because my instructor said the coil wire wasnt grounded and thats why it blew something out so like i said kind of nervous lol. could it me the crank angle sensor? I'm pretty sure it's built in the distributor.

Also I am getting fuel i can hear the pump turning on and everything was fine until that wire came off. maybe CAS?

Thanks for the help

pulling the coil wire can't cause something else to blow, your instructor sounds like he needs to go back to school

are you sure the coil wire si the only wire he pulled? did he damage the wire?

if you are doign thsi in class they should have the test equipment to test for the 5V square wave signal going to the ignitor and the 5v signal coming out of the cas, so testing should be a snap

That depends. If they pulled the coil wire off the distributor side and let the wire touch something metal while he was cranking it, that could be very bad. Of course, you would think that someone would have see a huge spark when they were doing it.

Thats exactly what the kid did. He pulled it off the distributor side. I replaced the ignitor and it didn't do anything. Weird thing is that another student and I were running tests and finally spark came back. Now she starts. Runnin awesome again. Idk what exactly it was... It's back on the road though Thanks for the help anyways.

And people wonder why I refuse to take my car to a mechanic for work. Bunch of idiots now days. Seem to be too many crowding the good ones out. I hope your classmate learned something from all of this.
