hey guys

i was just curious..i had my first oil change yesterdayi waited 50mins and finally this young probably in his early 20's guy walked towards..(was playing my keychain - my car key) on his hand..walked to me and handed the keys back to me with a peice of papersaid nothing to me

didn't even tell me where he parked my carthe parking lot is not that big..but it'll be great if he would just point me the direction to my car

good thing the weather was awsome around noonso i walked towards my Versa...hum...my little white gas tank cover was open...they didn't close itwhich is fine cuz i can do it myself...simple and easy

after that..i sat back into my car...oh great..they moved the hegiht of my steering wheel...my seat was moved to a very back position as well

i'm not sure if that's the "way" they do it when you get ur oil change...but it made me felt

first was the cover..and now my steering wheelnot to mention about the seating (i understand a lot of ppl like to move the seats to the back position because they feel it's more comfortable..but i'm not THAT tall..and it was too far for me)

so i don't knowshould i give them or

Actually, I have always had great service at my dealer. Unfortunately, my last oil change caused a minor problem. I noticed a little oil on the driveway the next morning. I then walked around the car and found hand prints on all four doors (where the service technician braced himself to align the frame lifter) and their was oil smudge on my steering wheel cover. He apparently spilled oil on the frame and the excess oil was dripping to the driveway. After a few days - no more oil. I called up my service rep and he was very apologetic and asked me to bring my ride back and they would clean it up. I didn't (60 miles round trip) but will make a point of mentioning it next time (for both cars) and really looking over my ride before I leave.

The waiting time I can understand, maybe they had a line of cars. But from my understanding of the dealers they try not to move the seat/steering wheel as much as possible for the convience of the driver. As for the cover, not too sure why it would be open unless you pull the thing for it. And for the service guy not saying anything...how rude lol.

And I've had good and bad service. The techs. dont seem to like me much cause I had my V in for an airbag light and I was a pain cause no one was at fault...the light started flashing outa nowhere and I didnt want to pay for it because I hadnt done anything to it. But it seems like the service guys always cut me some slack so I didnt pay for that. And I've had my V in for an oil change a total of 5 times and so far I've only paid for 2. As far as all the seats and stuff goes, the only time I've had a problem except the first time I went to go get my oil changed. So far though, service has been good...a pain in the butt...but good.

I've never had a problem at my dealership with the actual service done or the courtesy of the employees. The reason I stopped going to them was that they didn't follow the recommended service intervals from the Versa's service manual. They didn't do some items and added others. So I've had a private mechanic do all my service since 15k, following the book and taking his advice if he calls and says he feels something else needs done. Saved a ton of money, too.

My dealer is great....the only complaint I would have is having to make an appointment for an oil change .....

Well, I have 3 different places I can potentially use for my Versa. I've used 2 of them already.

The dealership (for warranty work) has given excellent service, including a free loaner for the diags on my socket power problem. They always wash the car before I get it back, but most of their lot attendants are significantly shorter than me, so they leave the seat adjusted too far forward when I get in.

I use a GM dealership with a Goodwrench quick lane for my oil changes. They also give good service... there's never any smudges or dirt, they vaccuum and hand wash the car, and give me a 20 oz soda on every oil change. These guys are all taller like me, so my seat is always in the correct position when I get it back.

I haven't had to use my private mechanic yet for the Versa, but they go above and beyond on service for what, in my opinion, is an absolute steal on labor. Their labor efficiency and rates are so good, it would seem that they charge literally half or less than what the dealer would charge. (I've used them for both my RX-7's faulty FPD and to do the brakes on my wife's Tucson)

Bulldog - sorry that your dealer is so inflexible with oil changes. Sadly, my dealer is also like that with minor services. That's why I use a Goodwrench facility. I don't need an appointment, and the grease monkeys there are far better and more thorough than at the quick lube chains.

So to be clear: If I don't to go to the dealer and be gouged [did I just say that?] it does not void my warranty as long as I have record of the work done?

Ridiculous prices for a bunch of visual "inspections" that my local guy did as a matter of course with LOF on my old vehicle.

Or is there something special about the way a Nissan service department will adjust drive belts and inspect spark plugs, fuel lines/etc,

I'd say that so far, the nearest dealer service is looking to be bad.

Brought the car in for them to detail it (I bought the car the night before, were there past closing.) and was told it would take about an hour, so my wife and I decided to walk over to Olive Garden for lunch. We were back an hour later and went over to ask about it.

From the look on their faces when we asked, it seemed like they forgot or haven't stared. We sat and waited another hour & the salesman who sold us the car walked by and asked us what we were waiting for and he went and checked it out.

He came back and told us that it was done (after a total of 3hrs.) so we went out and walked over to the car. Immediately I noticed that aside some of the floor mats being placed, nothing was done. The scuff on the plastic above the wheel I pointed out was untouched. It was raining pretty good at this point so I just headed out.

Was I expecting too much? What do they normally do before they hand the car over to you?

It should be spotless - both mine and my daughter's were, bought from different dealers. Sounds like yours isn't looking for word-of-mouth, followup sales or good Nissan survey results!

Haha, yeah I guess. They did call & tell me that they're sending a survey & if I give them %100 they'll fill my tank, no thanks.

As long as you keep receipts/records showing that the work was done on time, they can't void your warranty.

The only reason I can see routine maintenance service being done at a Nissan dealer at the moment is the case of CVT transmissions. They use a different fluid, and most indie shops aren't well versed in them... yet.

Put it on the survey that you were offered a bribe. On my survey, I complained that I wasn't offered a bribe for a perfect score. I gave them a perfect score anyway. They earned it.

Meh my dealers retarded, they took a day to change the oil and to readjust the passenger side door, which slamed too hard, this all should have taken an hour or 2, not only that I found alot of fingerprints inside the front frame of the car, which doesnt clean off, I tried everything its like stuck there. So ye their not that bad but their not the best and they never have anything in stock, took them 2 weeks to get a little bottle of paint with that brush. They charged me 50 something for the oil change, when it could have been 20 something in a private mechanic, the only reason I take it to the dealer is because they use genuine Nissan Parts and if something goes wrong I get to blame them cuz their the ones putting the crap in it.
