although their first album was utter crap (i think they said so themselves ha), 2nd and 3rd are incredible. vheissu was definitely a change in direction, but no doubt a good direction... it kicked a**. now, the alchemy index... i dunno, just not feeling some of the tracks. not because of the varying style -- i have favorites from each element. in fact, i think water (arguably the most experimental) is amazing. on the cd i burned for the car, i couldn't fit the whole index and i didn't think it quite worth 2 discs. so, i just removed the ones that weren't so good. sigh, i hated doing that, and it's sad that i felt i needed to, but i f'in love the result. if i just forget the lame tracks ever existed, i can just pop it in, hear the best of each element in order, and finish the cd feeling immensely satisfied.

I think the beauty of the alchemy index lies in the fact that you can really pop one of the discs in regardless of how you're feeling. there's something on one of the discs for just about every mood. Water is also my favorite disc. So calming yet so... invigorating. But my heart still lies with The Illusion of Safety. Awesome CD, from start to finish.

machine head. cannot stop listening to the blackening. saw them at mayhemfest in dallas. they only played like five or six songs, but the first one they played is off the blackening. its fricking 10 minutes long. sound as good live as on the cd. granted, it was only 30 minutes worth of music, but i WILL see them again. hopefully they have a headlining tour and dont have to tour with crap like mastodon and dragonforce... course slipknot was awesome live. just my 1 cent doubled

Well, I listen to a variety of different music. My favorite rock band would be a toss up between Thrice, 311, Incubus, Taproot, Twisted Method, Flaw, the Offspring, RATM and the Deftones.

Some of the metal bands I listen to are Protest the Hero, Hatebreed, Into Eternity, Nevermore, Opeth, In Flames, Throwdown and Nothingface.
