So after swapping out my power steering pump, changing the belt, and countless other diagnosis, I am certain the obnoxious noise under the hood is my idler pulley. The old PS pump I removed was a reman, so I know work has been done to it. I think the problem with the idler pulley is the order the parts were re-assembled in by the "qualified mechanic" who worked on it before me. Does anyone have a schematic for the order of the idler pulley parts? I scoured the FSM and have found nothing.

I'm not sure if the Y33 uses the same style pulley, but here's what I came up with for the G50. I got a hellacious metallic screeching-grinding noise with the pulley installed backwards.

The top picture looks to be correct. If you are unsure, take off another pulley (alternator or AC) taking note of the order. Turn it by hand. If it feels chalky or not smooth in any way, the bearings are probably shot. Don't let it break your belt. If one is gone and the others are the same age, safe to assume they are not far behind. Check them all. I have a few from G50 for sale (smooth turning)... not sure if it fits Y33 though. Others might chime in on that.
