I made an attempt at installing my Y-pipe today and I ran into a few problems. On the far set of bolts that connect the pipe to the back header, there is a pre-cat blocking the bolt. I have no idea how to get around it. Is there anybody who has installed a Y-pipe that can help me out?

is it an aftermarket y-pipe or factory? you shouldnt have any precats on aftermarket (or are there?). if the bolts arent lining up right then there might be some other problem like the fabrication. need some more info.

The pre-cats that I am talking about are on the stock y. I broke all the bolts except for the ones on the back up section.

oh ok i was lost in the sauce. um . . . you need to tilt the bottom of your engine towards the front of the car and brace it. that should gove you the room you need. when you say 'broke all the bolts', you mean you broke them loose, not BROKE THEM, right?

Yea I mean broke them loose. Now how do I go about tilting my engine forward? Would that just pull the entire exhuast system forward a few inches? Im some what of a noob when it comes to HP mods, if you couldnt tell already.

Log into AIM.

Easier than bracing the engine is getting a universal sockit. Swivel or UV is another name for em. That's the easiest way to get them off.

hey beancooker, did you get better gas mileage with the y-pipe or worse gas mileage? It seems that mine went down a little.

Rule of thumb... power ^=mileage v... Yeah, I have lost mileage in some of the stuff I've done.
