It's all about $$$dftsilvia wrote:i have a t3/t4 garrett in my basement. but im not trying to run that rite now im just trying to run it stock for a while. and syko is crazy they want 200 bucks for their little elbow. i kno im not suposta swear but **** thats crazy. whoever spends 200 bucks on a elbow is a moron. i guess i will just grind my elbow until i get around to put my t3/t4 on.
Thanks for the update. I went ahead and bought the kit yesterdaydftsilvia wrote:^thats what i was thinking about doing they are like 60 bucks shipped.
neejay, my engine sits about a 1/2" away from the firewall, it actually sits pretty nice i think its about as far back as u can get it cuz my shifter is a wee bit further back than the stock location its real nice. dit
edit: the eblow barely, i mean barely doesnt clear. a couple mins with the grinder and i should be able to get the stock one to clear. pics will be up over the weekend, im in the home stretch
I personally believe that there is d!ck for HP in divorced wastegates unless they dump the exhaust in a ways downstream.rudedrift wrote:dood. i've built a gang of **** ans saved myself thousands of thousands of dollars. and i imagine it's a sweet piece. but not for two hundred....
and them divorced wastegate joints i think are where it's at. i think that is where the HP comes from.
For welding, brittleness is the main issue with cast iron. I've welded a few... just sufficiently preheat the cast (torch etc) and mate it to your next bend. I was never comfortable with the whole grinding idea... and having it welded will be a lot cheaper than that $200 bit someone said was for sale. If you own a RB 240 a welder will pay for itself several times over (mine has)... or you need to at least become a good friend with someone who has one...dftsilvia wrote: yah but cast is soft and by the time u pay someone an hour of labor u could have just busted out the grinder and do it for free
not so much as power as better flow. and for way downstream, that's the way to go.240z4u wrote:
