I get the car all jacked up after i completely remove the shifter boot and other boots. now all thats left is the metal shift stick comin out of the transmission. if i'm spose to remove that i have no idea how. There appears to holes on either side of the ball the stick is attached to, that goes right into the transmission from what i can tell.

Well heres the reason for the post, i get under the car, I spot the big square fill plug, I'm looking around the bottom of the transmission cuz the only thing there that would be a drain plug it a plug thats completely round, with a square hole in the tip....for some sort of tool or bit that I don't have.

wtf??!?!

EDIT: OPPS look at that recent post about the drain plug, so a 1/2 inch drive should do it. I'll try it.

Can anyone tell me if I got what i need removed with regards to the shifter?

There's a C ring holding the Shifter in, get a c-ring removal tool or find long wood screws that fit into the little holes in the c-ring and use a pair of vice grips/pliers/etc and squeeze and it should shrink the c-ring which will then pop out. When that's done, pull out the shifter.

can you not, if you have a bottle with a thin spout, squirt it into the lil holes exposed on either side of the shifter base/ball?

i think i might end up using the filler plug, unless the c ring removal is dirt cheap. your other method i really can not understand what you're saying, sorry

Yeah it's kinda difficult to explain, if you are trying to fill through the shifter, just pour it slowly into the base of the shifter, that's what I did, but I left the fill plug off so that I don't over fill the transmission. The gear fluid will squeeze it's way through the shifter pretty easily.

The drain plug just uses a standard 1/2 inch drive to loosen it. Take a half inch ratchet, and cram the square peg straight in the square hole, then twist till it breaks loose.
